The DX50 really comes into its own on Hi Rez files...... best is, the dac chip seems to handle hi rez files with ease, no extra heat that I have noticed and battery seems really strong.....................

So good I have ordered 10 units...hahahaha

Gotta pay now...

Where's kkcc???

Dont buy 10! Think about the effort to update the firmware on each....LoL

Doesn't stock Android audio drivers downsample all the hi-res audio to 16/44 or 16/48?
Then again, if we could install USB Audio Recorder Pro on the DX50, maybe we could have USB Audio

Or we should just leave it stock and use it as is. :)

All this fancy terminology is getting me confused now, haha.

Wait, do you mean stock iBasso FW or stock Android? I'm confused as well

Usb recorder pro doesnt downsample as I have learnt from the android thread. how do we install the apk file for pro version and whether the stock firmware will mess up the tuned sound when using as a dap.. Maybe its good idea to get another one to experiment when such rom really exists.. LoL

Well, if you need a device to show custom wallpapers on a tiny screen, stock Android has an edge over the original FW, I guess.

Very much so. All I really want, is to hop into the system (If easy enough), then edit a different picture over that wooden wallpaper the current DX50 currently runs (Hopefully, it's just a simple .jpg image like those found in Nintendo DS themes). Other than that, there's not much else I want to play around with:)

Just giving it a touch of uniqueness.

I can't wait for mine and hope they're a good match with the PB2s and my Mad Dogs.

Can anyone tell me if I need to buy cabling to connect to the PB2 in readiness for when the DX50 arrives?

You just said you haven't heard the DX100 but went on implying that you have.

You're right, need to clarify this. What I meant was that I heard DX100 a while ago for a very short time. It had great SQ to my ears, but my memories about it are foggy today. Hence my theoretical comparison to DX50. Hope this clears things a bit, and I'm not in bad light. Cheers.

Sounds like you want to hack some resources, not install vanilla Android. I think stock Android would need a bit of work to even make it on par with the iBasso firmware, SQ-wise.

Has anyone modified the DX50 by replacing the stock DAC chip WM8740 to WM8741?

There is only a handful of chosen people in the whole world owning this new player, and you are already asking if it has been modified???
There are not even enough reviews & comparisons of the stock variant yet...

Maybe so but I like his boldness, having an WM8741 unit would make me very happy just look at the RWAK100-S I can see DX50-S :D

Well my DX50 just arrived. Popped in my MicroSD from the X3, plugged in my Beyerdynamic DT1350 and started listening to The Piano Guys.

You know that feeling when you're listening to something really good, and it's like your ears are being tickled... This was it. The DX50 and DT1350s sound fantastic with this first album. I have a little grin on my face as I listen. Sound separation much more noticeable than X3.

The build quality and design of the DX50 is really astounding too. Really top notch, the online photos at iBasso's website don't do it justice.

In comparison to the X3, I think there's step-up improvement on both the audio quality and the build front. I would still easily recommend the X3 to anyone. I think the DX50 just comes across as more... 'refined'. It looks more expensive (similar to the AK100).

I haven't yet run into any firmware quirks. It seemed to scan my microsd card fine and is playing fine.

Great work iBasso!
