The HIBY R3 I- Removed info on Earlier R3 Versions - Added R3 II Specifications

Hi guys, i am thinking to get this to replace my ****ty onkyo dp-s1.

wondering changing to this DAP, consider an upgrade or a downgrade? or they are just two different category?

i am so frustrated with my onkyo dp-s1 touch screen problem.

Going from a DP-S1 to a R3 would be more of a sidegrade or even a downgrade in SQ (DP-S1 is a dual DAC/dual amp setup, whereas R3 is a single DAC), the UI is probably a wash where some bits are better and other bits are worse.

if i would like to replace this DAP, do u have any suggestion? i like the sounds of this DAP but just the touch screen issue, i very hard to live with it

If you like the sound of the Onkyo and would like to stick to that signature then perhaps go up to the bigger brother the DP-X1A, the trade off is that it's a much bigger device, but you also get a much better screen and a more flexible interface/feature set due to its full Android nature.
If you want to stick with a palm size small device that is roughly the size of the DP-S1/R3 without hair-pullingly poor UI, the choices are much more limited. Maybe see if you can score an AK70MkII for cheap now that the SR15 is out on the market which should mean the AK70MkII should be discounted now or very soon.

The SR-15 has fastest interface. Similar price point / features.

He, thats a good solution and exaclty the solution I have and use currently , but this wont work for me for long, as I need a hardcase, because my CIEMs are quite fragile and I take it everywhere, even in rough conditions

I tested on of these (Pelican Case) but in the size, that fits in my Hiby and My CIEMs, they are too big and bulky. these are way too high then.
I tested so many solutions but somehow none is really fulfilling my needs So I hoped for a custom solution

Aha, best I can think of then is a sunglasses case that's thick enough? Have to do some searching.

I have that case and unfortunately, it's just a tad too small for the R3.
