The HIBY R3 I- Removed info on Earlier R3 Versions - Added R3 II Specifications

Helloes.

I have been searching and reviewing R3 PRO for a bit, then ordered it. Now while it is being shipped, I would like to ask if the official latest firmware is better than the custom one that a user here some time ago posted (65000 track limit, fonts.. etc. updated)?
Also a bit curious how bad BT receiving will be. I'll add my personal experience with BT after I test it myself.
Just let me know if there is anything unofficial to improve the device.:)

I don't think the custom firmware works with the Pro version. I have used the BT receive function briefly; I was only able to get SBC from my MacBook but maybe I did something wrong as I expected AAC. AFAIK, there aren't really any tweaks that you can't find in the menus. There are still a few bugs that pop up from time to time, especially streaming, but, worst case, a power cycle will bring it back. I really like the form factor (and battery life) for shirt pocket carry. Enjoy!

First day with R3 Pro. Have not tested most of features, just simple playback with UAPP. Must say I like this sound better than dual ESS9218 based FiiO BTR5 with headphones. "More laid back sound" they would say. FiiO does sound very relaxed on speakers though, very similar. BT works well, no issues. I will see how other features work later, when I get SD card. But I am already fine with this device.

Just got the Saber beast today i am very impresses was a bit confused how to update to the latest firmware figured it out by installing the recovery but a user should not have to do that out the box lol. Well after i got it installed updated to v1.5 with no issues the player feels great in the hand and was just what i was looking for connected to my Sony wireless buds.

As you probably know the missing recovery was a mistake on Hiby's part. At least they came up with a way to correct without sending the player back... Glad you are sorted and enjoy! :sunglasses:

Yea it wasn't to hard to figure out how to get it installed but not everyone will have able to do it with the steps involved but well worth it i hope they can drop another firmware update soon and add some cool features :)

I bought this player in mid-January 2021 and in four months the 3.5 mm / line out port has stopped working. As if that were not enough, I suffer constant random reboots while browsing the folders of the micro sd. I have contacted the manufacturer / seller and they have proposed that I send them the unit for repair, something I am not willing to do because I would have to bear the shipping costs. For my part, I won't buy anything from this brand again. Quality control leaves a lot to be desired.

Its rubbish isn't it. Sadly that's the world we live in today, cheap(ish) disposable electronics. I got mine in August last year and it's still working fine but as I got it from Amazon I imagine I would get a similar response if I tried to return mine if it broke.

The thing is what would you get instead? I've had bad experiences with Shanling and Onkyo DAP's its just the way it is I'm afraid the only way to totally avoid the risk these days is to not buy any electronics.

I have several daps with a few years and have had no problems with any so far. In any case, the next electronic device, I will buy in my country. The money that I save if I buy it in China I will end up spending it later if I have to send it for a problem.

Hi, I couldn't find information about updates for keyboard, so R3Pro still has that pre-historic keyboard ?
I'm interested to buy R3pro and to connect sometimes to Centrance Dacportable, but keyboard scares me.

Guys, would the Hiby R3 Pro Saber be okay with the JVC FDX1 IEMs which are very "shouty", as people say, or would the normal R3 Pro be better? I don't want it to add to the shouty aspect.
That is a very difficult question to answer as everyone's hearing is different. The only way to know for sure is to try it yourself and then decide if its too shouty or not.
