Even more industrial than KMFDM's music:ksc75smile:

Nice...love me some KMFDM! I saw them in concert way back in the mid 90s. They toured with Lords of Acid. It was epic!

If you're saying it reminds you of German engineering then thank you.

The funny thing about those drivers - i have NO idea if they belong to 300$ cans or to a 30$ set.
I spent DAYS trying to find out their origin and i wasnt even close to find an answer.

Bottom line: they were amazing for the 20$ i got them and when i saw them again for below 15$ on BF it became complete robbery :spy:

They look titanium plated.

Did they have that weird filter on the magnet vent (with what looks like black electrical tape)? Or did you do that?

I was curious to hear how they would sound without the filter, but then i didn't like it and sealed it back with some electric tape.

Ah, gotcha

Usually removing those filters and running with an open magnet vent makes it sound like a bassy bloated mess.

I usually try it both ways, and most of the time I settle on partially covering the vent once I get the low end to the level I like, but not so much it’s bloated or overpowering.

My problem was that i insisted on an open design. Once i found a nice thick lid for the actual cups i realized i was wasting my time with that hole. The lid added more "meat" to the sound, messing around with air just made the sound weird IMO.

Those drivers are very tricky - they are are designed to sound ~flat and sparkly in their original config. their strengths are good performance across the range and nice sound-stage, but if you go close then you lose the sound-stage yet benefit better bass performance.

I think that because of that material, there's a smidge of harshness and a bit of an un-natural flavor to those, but i also think they are pretty fast because of that.

Would be interesting to use wool drivers of my next project. See how a completely different driver material sounds like.

It's an amazing band, faithful to their own style since the beginning. That's respectable.

But of course that's what we meant!

Still no word on how those K99 Drivers sound?

Thanks.

I've been so busy building IEMs that I haven't even done anything with my K99 and K100. During the summer I usually don't even use headphones; instead it's when I do all of my IEM modding and building. The winter is usually when I build headphones.

I'll make it a priority to work on the K drivers once I wrap up a few projects on my plate. I'm curious how they sound myself!
