This site is listing the X3 for preorder but I don't see them on FiiO's list of official retailers--can they be trusted?

MP4Nation is an authorized dealer for FiiO goods. Yes they are trusted. Many in the last few pages have already ordered from MP4nation

Has nyone here auditioned the Hifiman re-600 or the Westone 4s with the Fiio X3.  I have heard the X3 is more on the warm side and I would think the re600 are as well, but then again I have read alot of good things about them as well. Any one with some good input, I would like to hear what you think.

I hope that the warmpth is only coming from the amp, so that there would be somewhat of an option.

What guest5 is talking about is enjoying one sou d note than another. Post some measurements of each and objectively quantify what is being talked about, otherwise continue ue using whatever works for your ears. But understand that you are sharing an opinion.

Edit: for the record, the objective. 2 measures great and at the end of the day I'm not really a fan of how it sounds.

 
In China, people who own the most expensive stuff will laugh at the people who use some cheap stuff, and shown only they belong to Hi-Fi members, or it can said, flagship=most expensive price= Hi-End . I heard that most HD800, IE800, and K3003 is sold to China. 
 
that is why we never said we are making hifi or hi end device because we just make audio device to anyone who love music no matter they are poor or rich . everyone have the right to love music and hifi is an attitude but not how expensive the device you own.

im just waiting for the x3 to show up on amazon so I can by it.  I was going to wait for the e18 but I thin this is better to get so I can save my phones battery.  this with my v moda m80 and the ath m50s should should great.

Firmware 1.2 - a great improvement thanks ( original was good too! )
 
Could I add a request for an enhancement if you deem this of value.
 
If I play track A and then start navigating to track B... while navigating the volume buttons do not work.
If I want to adjust it, I can't without going into 'Playing' etc.
 
Would it make sense to enable volume controls while navigating?

I like your philosophy of HiFi. 
I really hope your next X5 will change the perception of HiFi in the head-fi community.

That is the right way to go about it IMO. There is no right or wrong setup, as long as you like when your ears are hearing, it's all fine.

sorry, can't change it cause the UE structure is decided at the first beginning unless we can make a big change. 
 
In fact, it is the first time we make an DAP and the UE/UI is made by ourself , but from X5, we already find the best UI design company to design the UE/UI and we hope it will be a big improvement and them we can implement in X3 when we have enough time.
 
Hope you can understand our situation, something is decided when it is born.

Now that is really good to hear. I have even higher hopes for the X5 now
