We wouldn't have all these disgruntled people if we could.

line out performance with an amp.

Any amp?

Or do you just mean the 'quality' of the line out.

Some line out's aren't very good whilst some line out's(like Apple line out) are fantastic and of low noise and distortion.

What was the problem with ALAC again?

I have it working with no problems. The name displays correctly and what not.

It's German song name BTW. But yeah, that is the name I have in the computer.

M4A is the file container (MPEG 4 Audio) that Apple uses for both AAC and ALAC.

But as you can see from the bottom, its an ALAC file as the Bit Rate is over 320kbps. So no, I'm not fooling you guys.

Maybe the beta version fixed the ALAC problem

But then again, I don't remember what the ALAC problem was again. Except that I remember something about a ALAC and file name.

yes, this is just a beta version, and some bugs will be fixed . please wait our 1.1 firmware, anyway, even the beta version is better than 1.0 firmware a lots.

Thank you

One thing I noticed was the inability to change the volume of the device when a song wasn't playing. Please allows volume change anywhere/anytime.

Having sub folders for albums in the Artists category like others said would also be nice. I'm still working through what else is needed.

HS2 come in handy.

Killing 4 birds with one stone.

All 4 are new review units. I was able to use the HS2 (first stone) so that the X3 can be burned in(if you even believe in SS burn in. I just do it so I can tell others I have put it through X hours) and so I can burn in the new RHA's and Dunu's.

Yes, my rockboxed clip zip, when I select "artists" and select an artist, it then shows an "all tracks" option followed by a list of the artist's albums. That's good. And if you select "all tracks", then all of the tracks (from all of the albums for that artist) are listed alphabetically by track name. That's good.

I hope FiiO can add this in a firmware update!

Can't be done , or won't be done...
I am ok with them not doing it as well its there choice.
I do find it hard to believe it can't be done, with time and enough effort i am sure it could be.

RB devs most normally don't do the port ,the end users do.
I've love to give it a crack but i don't have an X3 or a spare x3 that I want to brake :)

Ah well one can dream, maybe once the initial rush dies down I might get a second one..

It can't be done by FiiO due to the CPU license. Personally I find it kinda silly that a chip manufacturer doesn't want their API as accessible as possible, but then I don't think any chip manufacturer develops everything on their own, so there's probably a lot of patents and copyrights involved and it's now just manufacturer's own whim.
And since FiiO cannot reveal their FW's source code, a Rockbox port must be a lot more labor-consuming. Still, if the X3 proves popular, I guess it will be done some day.
