Yes, not driver need for OS as it will detected as removable drive. However, it will be smart to have some kind of software to mange and sync music because ID3 tag reading isn't perfect on X3. A good music managing software will put all the music in the correctly named folder and makes browsing much easier. I use Media Monkey personally.

Hopefully a future firmware update can allow deletion of songs/album directly on X3. I use that feature a lot and would like to see it on X3. Edit: funny how James beat me by a few minutes.

Don't really see deleting song as a particularly important features to have. If it is not a song I like, I won't have put it onto the device in the first place. If I forget to skip it during sync, there is always the 'next' button. Then again, I rather like to listen to the whole album at once.

I do that too but sometimes I just want instant gratification and like to just fill a directory with random appealing singles or favourite songs. Occasionally there is one in there that i get sick of so to delete it on the dap is a useful feature for me as i get lazy to plug into the PC. (especially if your a cowon owner you only need to charge it once a month lol)
