The Fiio X3 Thread.

I am planning to use the X3 as a digital transport as well. I have a centrance m8 lx which has a toslink input. What short interconnect cable do you recommend and where I can find it? All I was able to find are long cables which are not ideal for a portable rig. Thanks!

  ever considering vmoda m100?

V-Moda m100 has no soundstage straight out of an X3. It´s cramped, has overblown bass, the treble is mediocre. I was already thinking the m100 is a boring DJ headphone that only looks good - until I got a Cayin C5. Now the m100 has amazing soundstage, beautiful crystal shimmering highs, the vocals are more emotional and forward and the whole package is less fatiguing. There is a night and day difference.

The x3 alone does not pair well with m-100. I was told this, didn´t head the warning, should have. But add a cayin c5 and you begin to understand why head-fi likes V-Moda so much.

Just my five cents.

I don't plan to buy any external amps cause I want to keep the portability intact, and furthermore I would upgrade to Fiio X3 2nd gen as soon as it's available in India.

Thanks for the information!

I use the Coax very often, because I mainly use the X3 as a digital transport.
In fact, digital out (Coax or Toslink) is a "must have" feature for me.

Sorry, reposting my question referencing above post this time!

, I'm using the X3 as a digital transport at home only and all my DACs have Coax and Toslink inputs. On the go, I'm using the X3 alone directly connected to EIMs (Sony MH1, Yamaha EPH-100).
You need more a (active) converter, than a simple interconnect cable because you need convert electricity (Coax) to light (Toslink).

If using the X3 with the Vmoda m-100 I'd lower the bass setting to -5/-6 and then it might sound ok and open up a bit. On my X5 if I EQ the bass (31Hz, 62Hz, 125Hz) by -5 with the m-100 then it sounds closer to my LCD-2. The bass on the m-100 is quite elevated.

Like this on X5:

Thanks! I will explore other alternatives. Much appreciated.

Hi! So what's happening is in China, Fiio is currently having a deal, where old X3 users can use their security code to get the new second generation X3 for 50$ less. I really want one and would wish someone who loves their X3 and do not need a second one could lend me their code. It is limited to 300 people, so its on first come first serve basis. If you have the code, would you kindly help, and if not then perhaps refer to someone who can.

For those interested in the deal (See? I'm not keeping it only to myself, but its all in chinese): http://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.100.JkjCG2&id=44241100580&abbucket=10

Thanks in advance,

I would assume one would have had to purchase the X3 from the official website to have a security code.

They all have a scratch off security code. At least the legit ones do.

I believe this was added to later boxes, the first few batches didn't have them? (Or at least i never noticed it on mine, which was the real deal)
