The Fiio X3 Thread.
Aug 22, 2014 at 4:11 AM Post #12,302 of 17,481
Soon, I hope. This thread's been too quite lately. Thinking about starting some rumour just so folks will have something to talk about.

The next FW update will include the driver that unlocks double the resolution of the display and it will reveal that it actually is an Amoled display.
Apart from support for all kinds of playlists it will also include a 20 band PEQ with compensation profiles for all known headphones and IEM's based on Tyll's and goldenears measurements to ensure a balanced and well-rounded response no matter what you are connecting it to.
2.14bmod and 3.0 sound signatures will be switchable and there'll be the possibility to blend between the two.
In additon there'll also be the possibility to select between the HM-901, AK240, P1, Calyx-M or X5 (and many more) sound signatures.
The hardware based, fully adjustable dynamic crossfeed which perfectly mimics the sonic characteristics of top-tier speakers will be available as well.
In addition the next FW update will re-arrange the physical button layout to be more intuitive to use and will also add an optical (read holographic) scroll-wheel to the X3.
You'll also be able to activate the X3 stealth function which will make it invisible to any kind of radar.

The hidden Wifi function will be unlocked as well and the internal memory of 128 GB will finally be fully accessible.
So the rumour goes...

Why no ReplayGain?!

Realisically, the next firmware update will mirror the x5 2.2 release where there are no hardware differences.

The joke went straight over your head :p

Does anyone know how to use the cue sheet feature on the X3 with single audio files? Does the cue sheet need to be embedded, and if so is it only compatible with lossless formats?

I've just found that it works with mp3 files, and the cue doesn't need to be embedded. I have to resort to this to listen to dj mixes. The gapless feature ISN'T truly gapless.

This is SHOCKING! Still no DLNA support? How about X7 emulation mode?

You forgot the feature which is reading your X3 S/N and allows you to print out an exclusive coupon which entitles you to 50% off from both HD800 and LCD-3.

Ha, Ha. I should also add that the developers of Rockbox are so blown away by the new UI that they're abandoning the project in order to go work for Fiio

There'll actually be BetterReplayGain, the more often you listen the better it'll sound.

The X5 unfortunately is underpowered for these kind of features, preliminary tests left the Fiio lab in disarray and the Fiio technicians traumatized.
There were also reports of random fires in connection with this.

I will be ultra happy with the play list support & the 20 band eq only
biggrin.gif

To be honest Fiio is going for a mega-ultra-hyper happy user response, ideally speaking.

DNLA support is there of course, I only mentioned the least important feature improvements in my previous post.
Can't reveal all the goodies beforehand, that just wouldn't be right.

Ha, Ha. I should also add that the developers of Rockbox are so blown away by the new UI that they're abandoning the project in order to go work for Fiio

The next X3 update will effectively kill the Rockbox project, no more need for it honestly after this.

Interesting, I hadn't even mentioned the mood improvement function slated to be in one of the next FW updates, how did you hear about it?
