Wasn't the price supposed to be $150-$200?

The MSRP is $200. But with most of FiiO products, they let the retailer has the final say on price.

In the specs, I'm reading 192K/24B. Since a lot of mp3 songs are in 320k, does it mean we'll have to convert?

No, X3 decodes everything in 16/44.1 just fine, including 320kbps mp3 files.

24/192 only means the maximum bitdepth/rate X3 can support.

I think we will release a special firmware if we can expend our sales channel to retail market, otherwise, I think it is OK .

The best way is to buy our products from local dealer , especially when you buy an expensive unit, although we are trying to make the high quality products but there always will have some RMA, even we can control the defective rate down to 0.1% , but it still means 100% to one user.

James... can't fault your Customer-Service in China to be honest, I had to deal with the problems of CNY but you quickly sorted my problem soon after, which I was grateful for.

Not until I get my hands on an X3, and do some comparing between the two.

I have high hopes for it, and my ears will be the judge.....

I don't understand your reply clearly, James.

Do you mean that you will create a volume-crippled firmware so that all customers in Europe have to buy X3 with crippled volume?

If you supply all of Europe with volume-crippled firmware, will it still be possible for people to re-flash the ROM with non-European firmware version to get around this, or will the European X3 hardware be slightly different from non-European X3 hardware?

Thanks

I assume that it will operate similar to the sansa players and you can select the region.  Until people hear one and decide if it's loud enough there really isn't enough to worry about.  Heck I even find the ipod classic (7th gen) loud enough and it's no where near max.

Cheers

I think you get him wrong, I understand it this way:

Now when it's sold just be few Hi-fi retailers, they dont have to care about EU limitations. If they expand to mass market electro shops(like Saturn in Germany), they will have to do some limitations. But Fiio is far from that.
