Dear fiio,
Please develop the library. When we scroll down, it takes a long time to reach a track.you can increase the scrolling speed, and display the English letter. Just a thought.

yes, that is why we choose wheel in X5, but we will try to improve the crolling speed in X3 too.

I have found that version 1.31 was the last stable release for the X3 as it fixed the hanging issue in version 1.23. Version 2.1 is mostly a disaster. My unit couldn’t play three songs without locking up and you need a paperclip to reset it. Being that nothing has come out of FiiO to support the X3 since version 2.1 in December of last year and they stopped responding to emails, I’m not expecting further support for the X3. I think they are focusing on the X5.

I acquired an X3 in December 2013 and spent six weeks back and forth with FiiO support trying to get the device to function properly. (It never did; it was plagued by the same performance troubles you describe) I was instructed to update the FW to 2.1, and install it a couple of times (???) and when that didn't work I was told to install 1.31, which fared no better. I was then asked to reformat the TF card, which had no effect, then I was instructed to reformat the X3's internal memory and install the FW again. This went on and on, and in the end I gave up and returned the device for a refund. I believe the X3 is a troubled device and new firmware isn't going to resolve ALL of its performance problems. I won't be surprised if the X3 vanishes in the next six months and the X5 is the only unit you will be able to buy.

You may want to consider returning your X3 and get something else. I bought an AK100 and it has been significantly more reliable, although admittedly it has its own UI quirks to deal with -- but not the performance issues the X3 suffers from.

Unfortunately that is the problem of getting a 1st gen. anything. I wouldn't be surprised if some X5 owners have similar problems as well.
That being said, I have no regrets about buying my X3, even though I can't help but feel we've been forgotten about in all the X5 hype. Hopefully Fiio will decide to offer some sort of "customer loyalty upgrade" in the future <hint hint>.

My X3 functions fine running ver 1.31 and does what I need it to do. It also really sounds great compared to other players. If FiiO comes out with a new, stable upgrade, great, but I can always fall back on the old load.  No regrets.

The X3 is my first FIIO buy, and my last, I will not spend money with companies who do not take care of their customers FIRST !
FIIO is out for the profit $$$ and has no care for we their customers.
The "fix-firmware"___that never arrived ____only promises.

Then you might want to do like Cannikin did, return it and get an AK100 / 120 / 240.

I have yet to have a problem with the X3, gapless On and working perfectly, I am yet to have one freeze or lockup and I use it everyday...
FLAC's, ALAC's, M4a's a very few MP3's, all Properly Tagged with normal sized album artwork.

I fully believe that 90% of the issues some people are having is a result of improper ID3 tags and massive artwork in thier files, or just bad media like many of the MP3 that are floating around on the internet.

I had a couple of days where I could barely use it after months of trouble free music....now its fine again. Not sure why cause I didn't change anything unusual could just be something tag wrong like you suggested. I leave gapless on all the time and haven't had any crashes issues. Just waiting for new firmwares....
  can x3  sync from iTunes?

I use Musicbee to sync my X3, I guess it pretty much works like itunes in that way. I imagine other music managers would work the same.

I bought mine from Amazon with the Sandisk 64GB (Class 10) MicroSD card and I've been extremely pleased with it. Like some others here I had to re-tag some albums (I only put full albums in either FLAC or WAV format on it) and resize the cover art using a Windows resize app, but other than locking up twice early on I've had next to no trouble.

I was a little spoiled being used to how easy it is to use J.River Media Center with my DAC's so it took a little time figuring out how the X3 wanted things done but once everything was tagged properly, and I reduced the artwork (JPEG) to 300x300 its been great. I'm using the X3 (Line Out) with the E12 Mont Blanc and the B&W P7's and it makes for a nice little setup.
