Thanks heaps for the advice ClieOS.

Yeah doesn't sound like something I should be attempting myself I don't think!!  I would be devastated if I broke it, I love that little machine!!!!

Great idea to take it to a phone repair place - I was thinking of doing that - they'd sure be more expert than me, haha.

Your advice is much appreciated!

The original X3 is fairly easy to take apart, just unscrew everything and take he PCB out, flip it over and the screen is glued to the other side. I never take the screen out before, but I'll advise you to be careful on the flex cable connection and make sure you unlock the connector first before trying to rip the cable out fo the socket. After that, it should be just a simple swap. On further note, if you really don't think you can handle it, try finding a nearby cellphone repair service and ask if they can do it for you for a fee. It should be a piece of cake for them as taking smartphone apart is much more difficult.

Thanks heaps for the advice ClieOS.

Is there any way to get a replacement battery for the first gen X3? I prefer the simplicity of the bass boost on this one to the X3ii at times and just dug it out of the drawer and the battery is not lasting more than an hour. I saw there is an AliEx page for it, but it's not available.

I've got a Fiio X3 Gen I.  How do I make it recognize the order of tracks on an opera CD I ripped and play them in order?  Just trying to play "all files" results in jumbled order as the X3 tries to play the track in alphabetical order.  Looking at the playlist shows the tracks in the right order, but trying to play the playlist results in "file not found".

The same thing does not happen with  non-classical CDs I've ripped.  It also doesn't happen with my Astell & Kern.  I think it must have something to do with how the Fiio reads the tag information.

Are the tracks not named 01, 02, 03 and so on to start with?
If they are not like that, it just plays them alphabetically like you said for me.

There was also a time when I got a CD that was so new that is wasn't recognised on the database that normally automatically names all the tracks for me. So I just named them after the tracks but didn't put any numbers and my X3 didn't like that. So I did what I mentioned earlier and that sorts it out.

Dear Sladeophile,

Because of the strict customs and coming Spring Festival, it is not available for the shipping company to send battery abroad. You may send email to support@fiio.net after Spring Festival for help.

Best regards

TheGiantHogweed,

The track numbers are part of the tagging information for each track, but I don't include the track numbers in the song title.  So track 1 of a CD might be "Happy Birthday", but not "01 Happy Birthday" in my library.  Neither my server software nor my A&K have trouble playing songs in "album order", but the X3 does.  Weird.

So I've been lurking on this site for ages (I bought my AKG K81DJs because of the forums, loved them, and now 3 friends own a pair too!), finally decided to join the discussion! I bought a FiiO X3 today, just waiting for delivery now! I got a great deal, I had intended to go for the X1 but found a little shop online whose owner was selling the X3 after getting two for Christmas. I got the whole thing with 64gb sd card for £15 less than what I was going to pay for the X1 without sd card, so I'm really pleased.

I've got my AKGs and some Sennheisers (px100), would you recommend any other sets? I'm so excited to get my X3, I've started archiving all my music in FLAC format. Previously I used a Sony mp3 player which I will admit I'm sentimentally attached to, sadly it's only 16gb though and I have to delete files if I want to add new music.

I'm so pleased to finally join your community and look forward to hanging out on this thread learning all about my lovely new X3.

Welcome to the thread and that is a great price for the X3 + memory card

Many headphones out there that go well with the original X3; for me these are ones that I like with it: EL8 open, HD-700, TH-600, HE-400i, Grado RS2e and my custom Ypsilon build.
