Or even better, re-utilize the ones I'm using with my clip+! (two 16 GB microSD). some might not agree but i believe its more "on the go" just to swap or fill SD cards by trowing folders into it than to connect the player to a computer, even worst if you have to use an specific program for it (ie: itunes, zune...)

Only concern is time. my clip+ can take up to 5 to 10 minutes to recognize a new full 16 GB card.. but I trust the X3 will do better.

It supports massive cards. It should shrug off 16gb like nothing.

Carry 2 of these. Done.

It still takes time to read and check the database.

this is my point. I have read comments of users complaining about clip+ taking 20 minutes to recognize a 32GB card

Maybe Feiao can help us with this, when his back.

It was said earlier that its only going to support the extra capacity, not the extra speed.

I am going to cryogenically freeze myself so I do not have to deal with the anxiety of wait for the X3.I will need someone to thaw me out .....I would ask a family member to do it but they will never understand.

Can somebody give me more info in thie Fiio X3?Is this a high end DAP Mp3/FLAC player with the same or better SQ then Hifiman 602 at a lower price? What is the screen size, and does it have dual Wolfsen DAC and radio?I would love to match this with my W4.

first off, you should probably read through the thread for the most info on the Fiio X3. second, official pricing has not been announced. but people seem to be expecting about $199. from what i gather fiio is not trying to go head-to-head with the likes of hifiman. the hifiman 602 is more or less designed to be a standalone unit, while the X3 is being designed with external amps/dacs in mind (because of the line out and digital coax out). that's not to say the internal amp/dac will be subpar. i honestly don't remember which dac will be inside. lastly, i don't think anyone has asked about a radio yet, that appears to be very low on most people's priority list.

Wow, I might be suspicious of the cards being used at those transfer rates.  All my cards are 16gb and I've never had to wait 10 minutes to read.  That's ridiculous.  Maybe 2-3 perhaps.

I've found the Fuze and Clip+ take MUCH longer to read/write files to MicroSD than it would take if you use a USB card reader to load up music, which is what I usually do.

Wait, are we talking about USB performance?  I thought we were discussing read time during startup initialization.

what people are referring to with regards to long wait times with large mirco sd cards in a clip+ (i own one with a 32gb card so i know) is the time it takes to "rescan your files" (may not be the best word choice there)  whenever you  make changes to your music library.

they may also be referring to how long it takes to update the database, but since you can continue to listen to music while this is happening i dont see why this is a big deal.
maybe some people change out their entire card

I have the slowest type of card there is, and mine averages approximately ten minutes but probably less.  i have never actually timed it.  I however find this to be no big deal as i dont change the music around enough for it to bother me.

of course it also takes a very long time to simply transfer music onto a card like this, but again, unless you are constantly changing the entire contents every time, its not THAT long.

i personally dont see any of this as an issue.. even if the x3 were to perform in the exact same way - in every single way - as my clip+ did, and only had the differences of the line and digital out, which would obviously lend to higher sound quality,  i would be a very happy camper.

Ah, sorry for thr misunderstanding. My Fuze usually takes 3 or 4 minutes to rescan my files with a 16GB card. It's not too big of a deal for me. I'm usually not going to listen to music on it the very second I remove it from my computer.
