Hi.
This is my first post here: I think it would be an awesome idea to include a small bag with the X3, big enough to put it inside with some IEM's, because its very hard (not to say impossible) to find a bag with a decent size but not giant for that purpose.

Over the many years my father collected them...I use Crown Royal bags for a lot of stuff. The mid sized one actually hits the E9 very snuggly if I ever need to transport it. The smallest size is awesome more moving my little Seagate portable hard drive. That smallest one is the one I used for carrying things like DAPs and such.

Here's a picture of some bigger ones, but they look good, too.

+1 here for those (im)patiently awaiting this DAP. so far it does look like it's shaping up to be the dream portable. i really like how fiio is turning this into a highly-dedicated source. storage space, headphones, i can supply those. i already have an ibasso d10, so i would snap this baby up to pair them in a heartbeat. i just hope the firmware is reliable. i am one of those willing to pay $199 or even more for a reliable product.

another point that i don't think i've seen yet brought up here, is on-the-go playlists. i know rockbox can probably do this, but i tried rockbox once and its advantages didn't outweigh its disadvantages for me. not having on-the-go-playlists isn't a dealbreaker by any means, just something i hope they keep in mind.

I check this thread every day with crossed fingers, I swear. If this shapes up to be what it seems to be, it's all i want in a DAP, well, except massive internal storage.

I wish Fiio can create a seperate product that has the best PO ever, with good battery 15+, good UI, good size just for people who want for a purely portable use (no amp)

Well, it can't have no amp.  And I'm very happy with what this DAP is shaping up to be.  I love my iTouch 3g, but I really have no need for touch screens, apps, wifi.  I would consider selling it to buy this, especially since I am very happy with my E7 and know Fiio to be high quality, especially for the price.

Hm, I was wondering, where will the firmware be stored?  I'm guessing a built-in NAND chip?

Any word on how big this might be, whether it actually has a little bit of extra room for firmware expansion via updates?

I meant I don't use an amp so no need for LO, also some other ports on x3 right now

But how much is it going to kill you to have an extra port or two that you don't use? That's asking so much of a commercial product, let alone a budget one and not to mention the company's first DAP offering. If they made it without line out, most people here would be bummed. And can you really complain about coax out?

If you don't use an amp, want awesome battery life, great size and all that, it sounds to me like you are describing the Sansa Fuze. I'm stoked on the X3 because of the line out, coax out and 24/192 capabilities. My only want would be an internal hard drive that's very, very large. I have 300+ gigs of digital music and no way to carry it. I'm honestly thinking I just need a netbook at this point.

I'm super excited for the options for this player. The lack of onboard memory is a risky idea (IMO), but I'm on board for carrying a few SD cards.

Or even better, re-utilize the ones I'm using with my clip+! (two 16 GB microSD). some might not agree but i believe its more "on the go" just to swap or fill SD cards by trowing folders into it than to connect the player to a computer, even worst if you have to use an specific program for it (ie: itunes, zune...)

Only concern is time. my clip+ can take up to 5 to 10 minutes to recognize a new full 16 GB card.. but I trust the X3 will do better.
