I don't know what you people think but for me MicroSD cards are still too expensive $90ish for 32Gb

I would prefer an SD slot(almost half the price) and sdxc is way too expensive too over $100 for 64 for that price I may as well just ask for a usb port insted and hook up a portable HDD(as stupid as it sounds, I know)

know I was looking at the hifiman specs and notice it has rollable opamps(that sounds nice), so reallistically how hard could be to implement that? would incres the price too much? what do you guys think about that?

$100 for 64gb is not bad for sdxc.  Plus future proofing (use that term loosely) for later is sound to me.  Just upgrade and you reach your price point.  Cards drop in price all the time and are swappable.  An iTouch w/ 64gb of non removable storage costs what?  $400!  Internal, non removable flash storage is just a waste of space and money IMO and a poor vestigial design decision left over from the past.

edit: where did you find it? I haven't actually seen sdxc for sale anywhere

I believe what James said is up 32GB via TF slot. SD slot will be nice since I already have a few 16GB SD card lying around, but I wonder if the slot itself will be too big to fit into the player. Actually buying two 16GB TF will be cheaper than one 32GB TF

TF/uSDhc/xc is fine.  I don't run full size anyway since its just more versatile to have the TF + adapter.  I don't like being tied to devices.

They are $200 atm primarily because sdxc adopters at this point are Camera folk.  A lot of those cards are 10-15x too.  Waaaay too fast for audio needs.  I have to say adding storage via USB ain't a bad idea either.  Less revolutionary but certainly more practical and opens up your options and the potential market.

Yep! my bad sorry I mixed them up 64 is over $200

I am super interested in this!  If I were to ask for anything, it would be for like 4-8 gigs of internal memory and an SD slot of some sort (preferably a regular SD port).  
Other suggestions: Ipod-like height and width, don't care much about thickness as long as it's under 2"
A good EQ would be nice
Possibly make a plastic case available for it?  I drop things 

Decent battery life (Decent to me is 10-12 hours)
These last two are probably wishful thinking: Don't include a pair of earbuds if it reduces cost. Or, give the option to get the DAP with high quality IEM's for an extra price. 
 
I also approve of the USB additional storage idea

A bit off topic but down the line I think it would be awesome to have different combo packs like Micca selling the e7/e9 for $200

LOL out of curiosity I made a quick search and found the laCie Rikiki just like 10mm (HxW) bigger than FiiO E7 and even a couple of mm slimer aluminum brushed casing with 640Gb at $70 (don't know if there are smaller ones) 
 
now I suppose the problem with that type of solution would be power, probably less battery. but I really don't know.
 
So besides the power it might not be such a crazy idea(as long as your willing to carry a portable HDD with your DAP)
 
that way I would consider the idea posted before of no internal memory just a regular SD slot and a mini usb port.

Most people own a live album, or an album of a dj mix, or one of the many extremely famous and iconic concept albums (some of the best selling albums of all time) that completely rely on being played as they were intended - not with gaps inserted between tracks which is a DEFECT in a player.[/size]

I shuffle my music almost always, but I can see why gapless would be a serious option for many. Is it that hard to implement? I don't think Fiio would just skip over something so important. Sounds a lot more reasonable than some other suggestions on here, lol.
 
I agree on not adding some packaged headphones with the X3. With all the seriousness that the X3 is capable of, I think Fiio should be one of the few companies to make a stand in letting people know that they take sound quality seriously and want the consumer to decide for themselves which headphone they wanna use instead of throwing some pieces of crap buds in there that add to the cost but that no one but people who don't care about SQ would use. That is, unless Fiio has some secret low cost, high performance IEMs that they're holding back.
 
Can't wait for the day Fiio releases some of their own headphones.

My iPod is from 2005; it does not have gapless playback. I don't think iTunes at the time had it either; the only option was to "merge" the album into a single track.
 
You're correct though; by today's standards gapless is to be expected. I am no programmer or electronics engineer; but I don't see why it would be hard to implement it in any case.
 
I have more than enough faith that FiiO is smart enough to include gapless playback.
