Pretty good for it's price but how would it compare to some of the Fiio products?

I hear you! I would hold off and save up for the Fiio X5iii, or wait for it to go on sale. That one is apparently awesome, and the one I'm most looking forward to trying.

Those are heavy requirements. What is your budget? Offline requires running the Spotify app, which limits it to an Android DAP that supports Google Play Store.

There aren't a lot, but the number is growing.

Onkyo has one, Pioneer has one, Cayin has one, Fiio has two, and I believe Astell&Kern has (a reality expensive) one. The Pioneer one goes on sale for $300 quite a bit, but I don't think it's in the same league as the Fiio and Cayin players.

If he's considering DAPs, he probably wants higher quality DAC and amp, otherwise may as well just use your phone.

Yes, they leak a fair amount. If you're worried about leakage or isolation, closed back ( or at least semi-closed) is the way to go.
