Well, if they have a "First Edition" doesn't that imply there will be a "Second Edition" or more?
From another perspective, look at how many units they have sold. The K7XX is a massive moneymaker for them. And I'm sure businesses do whatever it takes to maximize profits.
By the same logic, there is now more demand than supply, and now that they have established a reputation they could charge more in-line with AKG's pricing in the rest of the market. Maximize profit, you know? Sale items don't "increase" profit, they just increase liquidation and maybe establish a brand (and in this case, open up Massdrop to Head-Fi rather than being part of the banned list). Just saying, it was a very good sale.
Hmmm, from what I've read. not much of an improvement sound quality wise over the X1 (aside from some comfort issues). Since I don't have a problem with the X1 comfort wise, these are really inexpensive (when you find them) now, I can get a second pair (my teen daughter "liberated" my 1st pair )
Well, they did make significant changes. X2 vs the X1, the new one tightened/lightened the bass, brought mids up, improved comfort. People just find it really musical.
