Before jumping into the TH900 you may want to hold off for a while until the Audeze EL-8 closed version comes out in March. Once that little monster has made it's viewing then you can compare the TH900 to the Audeze XC and EL-8 closed. That would be a lot of fun.

I'm in no hurry, but I don't see that Audeze competing.  I'm more focused on e-stats at this 10 seconds.

I was holding off on buying the Audeze XC until the EL-8 has come out. I need another pair of headphones and they MUST be closed. The only thing holding me back on the XC is that in talking to the Audeze folks at the RMAF in Denver they mentioned that there may be a small chance that the XC may get the new graphite headband to make the XC lighter. Besides the quality of sound that is so important their must be a high comfort level for a 1800 dollar pair of phones. I think the weight of the XC is unacceptable at 650 gm. So here I sit waiting on the sidelines.

Think the Koss ESP-950 is a really good set of cans, but can't compare it to the TH900, haven't heard them. They are available on Amazon and other places in about the $600 range, and some have found them used for quite a bit less. Something to consider (I got them recently, really enjoying them, this e-stat biz has something to it!)

I own them, thanks.  Have a KGST amp on the way.  Should see it before month's end if all goes well.  That will be the tell tale for me as to whether I go Stax 007 or not.

OOps, didn't notice the name, of course you have them. Big jump to the Stax, hope the amp and the Koss work out, but, hey, it's only money (I wimped out on soldering the cable, bought one from Fong, same concept, it's only money...)
Good luck!

World Wide Stereo has the Audio Technica CKN70s for $35 w/free shipping with code DAILYDEAL

Are these worthwhile? No reviews at the provided link, and only one (not favorable) on Amazon.

So -- for $35 I took a flyer on them ($99 list CNT, Microdrivers). Basically, some folks really like 'em; others, not so much. I read through several threads (not just one review  like some folks) and felt it was worth a shot. Could be a bust but if they're holding up against the JVC FXZ/Ds, I'm willing to give them a go.

Plus, it gave an excuse to purchase some JVC Spiral Dots which are supposed to be the best tip for them :D

How much TH600 on Massdrop goes for?  May want one to replace my D5000.

Seems a better deal, if you don't mind B stock (which I don't). I've previously written you have to be careful with Massdrop prices, they're not always as good as they seem. I was just responding to the specific question on what they cost on Massdrop.

Sometimes the workers open the box to look at the headphones, sometimes they try it, sometimes there might be minor damages to packing or a small imperfection that doesn't effect how the headphone works.

Mostly workers just open the box and look at them. A lot of people reported getting a seemingly new headphone but somehow got marked b stock or open box. :)

I know, most things I've gotten b stock have been like new, but, it's not guaranteed you'll always get this, I generally find it worthwhile, but there is a real, if small, risk.
