The Deals DISCUSSION Thread (READ THE FIRST POST!!!)

I had trouble finding where to enter the code for the discount price, so let it go (already have one, would be a backup anyway, which I don't really need). Battery life not great, 6 hours seems to be the estimate I've read (haven't tested it or, just charge it often)...sound I'd superb, though, and I've still only used it unbalanced, will get a balanced cable spoon, supposed to improve sound quite a bit.

@Magick Man, what is the average price of a good electrostatic amplifier worthy of the sr-009? the $2.5 is cheap enough to have me interested if only to try them for a little while.

The Woo GES is a good, probably the best price for a capable amp, and it's readily available. I think the EC Electra is better (as is the BHSE), but they're a good deal more $ too.

thank you for your feedback. I guess I was looking for an even cheaper recommendation (such as Woo Wee here paired w/ a speaker amp), but it is always good to get recommendations from an experienced member. at makes me more comfortable passing on the sr-009 as investing too much in a dedicated electrostax rig is a road I want to go down atm. cheers!

I couldn't figure out how to enter the code for the Pono either. Guess I should call Fry.

They do give the number to call...haven't bothered as I already have a Pono, and I did it late at night. Maybe if I get a chance at work, but that's generally iffy. Can manage with one, but I really like this player!

I did have to call to get the promo code turned into an online code. I don't know why they do that as it adds a bit of hassle and can stop sales in their tracks. But I can't complain; it worked and am happy with the purchase.

is the code reusable for other people, or a one time code?

You get the code by registering at their site, agreeing to get their promo emails.
Not sure the deal for Pono is still running, but they offered it before, guessing it'll be offered again.

I just checked the site again, Pono no longer listed, was 1 day only for yesterday :frowning2:

But, as I said, don't know for sure, but they may offer it again, second time was on sale for this price from Fry's past few weeks.

Email states "personal promo code". I think the Pono deal was only for this past Monday but if I see it again I will post the code I get. They had a PNY 128GB microsd for $60 after code Sunday too.

Edit: Doc beat me to it. Thanks.
