This is the closed version. Pretty sure the EL-8 Open (refurbished) version was $199 on BF last year. The open version is supposed to be much better than the closed. I demo'd the open version and really liked it. Haven't heard the closed version though.

Well there you go! :)

So, does B-stock mean refurbished or scratch-and-dent?

Pretty sure that B stock refers to minor cosmetic flaws that have zero effect on sound, operability, etc.

Refurbished is a whole other thing. Depending on the industry/mfr, it can be totally up and up--or not.

I would by B stock, so long as the cosmetic flaws are fully disclosed & even pictured (SVS, the subwoofer folks, do the best job of that I've ever seen--many photos showing exactly what the flaws are).

I probably wouldn't buy refurbs.

I had the LCD-2 B-stock in Black Friday 2016 and the iSine 20 B-stock last year also in Black Friday from Audeze and I can say that these were like brand new headphones and I couldn't find anything wrong with these, that was my experience.

I will probably wait till this coming Black Friday (since I don't need more headphones at the moment) for a pair of LDC-2c and the EL-8 Titanium.

Man the reviews for the EL-8s are all over the place.
I personally think they are a fantastic sounding headphone. I purchased my first pair when they first came out. Back then they were very hard to beat for $699. Now-a-days there is a lot of competition in this price-point. If you like the Audeze signature (polite top end with a full presentation), you'll like these. If you're looking for bright/crisp treble sparkle or an analytical sound, Audeze will not be your cup of tea.

I also really enjoy the Sines. Great for travelling, although I use them with the CIPHER cable exclusively. I believe you can purchase it separately. These prices are an absolute no brainer. I'd skip the EL8 Titanium though unless it's the only one available. I haven't tried the in-ear Audeze yet, but have heard good things.

I have the iSine 20 and love them. I mainly use them with the cipher cable and my ipad. You can also eq them with the standard cable to sound almost identical to the cipher cable.

Interesting. Refurb can actually be seen as another level of QA/QC. If it comes with the original warranty . . . it's likely, statistically speaking, to be BETTER than non-refurb.

I've bought refurbished computers for 20 years . . . no problems, whether PCs or Macs.
