What can Amazon do if you've bought something from a fraudulent seller?

Call Amazon immediately.  What they can and will do will almost certainly depend on the particulars of you and your transaction.

Never buy a gift card for and/or send any money or payment outside the Amazon system.  Stay away from outside email addresses of these fraud peddlers.  Don't give them your email address or any personal information.

How's the soundstage on the 400i? I've been trying to decide between it and the 400s, but I've heard conflicting reports on how bad the soundstage is. I've also heard conflicting reports about the 400s, although it seems the consensus is that it's pretty good. Maybe that's just the nature of soundstage being hard to quantify.

I know it is not very helpful, but I would suggest listen to the 400i and form your own opinion...
Reading conflicting opinions or reviews just reinforces my point that sometimes different people hear different things (or their brain interprets them differently).
Personally, I have listened to both last weekend at CanJam in Denver, and liked the 400i better in general, but I cannot comment specifically on soundstage since I was not taking notes (and I do not remember).

The 400S with focus pads is smoother and more balanced than the 400i. Personally, used prices are so good on the 560 I would recommend looking into those. I feel the 560 is a great step up from either of those.

I like the 560, if that is any help (it does cost a good bit more), can't compare it to the 400's (the 560, to my ears, has a bit of harshness at the top end, better with good amplification, not good just out of a phone or most DAP's).

I've owned both and found the 400S more smooth as well. The 400i may preform a bit better in clarity of details, but for me the 400S was just very relaxing and enjoyable to listen to.

As far as soundstage goes IMHO they are acceptable. I wouldn't consider them to have a "big" or "large" soundstage.

+1 for 400S.  I am keen to get one at discounted price and waiting for a deal to appear on this thread. :)

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone. I ended up buying a 400s, since I found a pretty nice deal that came with a FiiO A3 amp and a memory card + case for $300.

Hmm... I didn't think of the HE560. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any used within my price range ($200-400). Cheapest I found was here.

And that's another problem. I can't really afford the 560s if I have to buy a good amp too. Otherwise I'd probably go for it.

Soundstage is the main reason I'm buying a pair of open-backed headphones. Most of the time I prefer IEMs, but they never have the soundstage and separation I'm looking for.

Since this is a deal thread (and considering I might have sent this off topic a bit) here's what I ended up buying: Hifiman HE400S + FiiO A3, Lexar 64GB MicroSDXC Memory Card + Slappa HardBody $300

Nice! If you ever find that you want better sub bass extension, get a pair of focus pads. IMO a must have cheap upgrade to the 400S.

Scammers. They're all over Amazon these days.

I wish Amazon would issue a note, warning at least Prime buyers about this scam, indicating how it happens (i.e. how it gets into Amazon's listing) and what to do about it.

They certainly seem to find their Prime members to mail them the latest breathless descriptions of Unlimited Music!
