With a Little Dot MK II to IV SE there are some fine tubes to be had for less than $10 a pair. The higher in class you go the more expensive it will be, on a nice $3500+ Woo, $200 to $300 a tube is not unreasonable.
Looks like this headphone amp is really designed to drive low impedance headphones: 16 Ohms, 62 Ohms, I wouldn'nt use it to drive anything higher than a 100 Ohm headphone.
30 mW into a 300 Ohm headphone may not be enough if you don't want to clip the peaks on recordings with a lot of dynamics with your 250 Ohm Beyers.
For a decent amount of headroom for dynamic range I would suggest an amp capable of outputting 100 mW into 250 or 300 Ohms.
OTOH, how does your amp sound to you?
If you don't listen very loud, then 30 mW may be OK.
The X3 can power the 880s but you won't get the most out of them without a decent amp IMHO. I use the E12/X3 combo with my 250ohm 880s and the combo provides plenty of power.

How much different is the E12 from the E11? I own an E11 and when I tried my 600ohm 880s with it they were really quiet. Do people really listen to music as quietly as it sounds like? My hearing is good, and while I know I listen to music loudly as a preference I just find it hard to believe I like it so much louder than most.
