Question, if I was going to get a replacement headband, I would have to take the stock one off wouldn't I?

I was asking because I've seen people say you can just put it over the top of the stock and others say you have to take the stock one off.

I never thought I'd own this headphone, but at $175 on Amazon as of 08/21/15 it was too hard to pass up.  It will arrive Thursday and I'm quite excited.

Was wondering if anybody uses the DT880 Pro with a Bravo Ocean. Wanted to replace the stock tube with something warmer, more lush, so I ordered a Tung Sol tube from a shop in Melbourne--which after keeping me waiting a month promptly closed up, shut down their website and walked off with my--and no doubt lots of others'--$25. I'm reluctant to spend another $25, or more, only to find that the replacement hardly improves on stock, or worse, is thinner and brighter.

For my Bravo Ocean, I replaced my stock tube with a Bugera 12au7 that costs me 12.99 on Amazon. I wasnt expecting much, but my 880/250 sounded just right fore me. Not necessarily warmer or lush, moreso tighter base and less grainy.

Recently I purchased the Bravo Audio V2 , cheap 30 dollar Muse(Signstek Dac), and replaced stock tube with a Electro Harmonix 12au7 tube. This set up sounds nice as well not only for the Beyer, also the HD650 and the 612pro.

I was curious what DAC are you using with your Bravo Ocean?

I don't know if the Bravo is compatible with 6922/6DJ8 or 7308/E188C type tubes, but I found Amperex and Phillips tubes to pair very well with the DT880's. Specifically, if you can find an Amperex Orange Globe 6DJ8 or Amperex 7308, they synergize extremely well with the DT880's.

No dac. I just play my MP3 files from a Kaiser Bass media player straight to the Ocean.
 
Just checked on that Bugera. Here in Oz the only one available is from the UK and costs $60 inc. postage. There is a Chelmer 12AU7WA, whatever that is, for around $25. I can get the Electro Harmonix for around $30, so that's a possibility. Blast, I didn't want to over-capitalise on this little blue brute, having already paid full retail for it. Another $25 will put me over the $200 mark.

You can't play digital media files without a DAC. If you're hearing sound when playing digital media, there is a DAC involved. 
 
I did a quick Google of the Kaiser Baas media player, but I didn't bother looking into whether it performs the digital to analogue conversion duties itself, or whether it relies on the TV.

It will perform the conversion internally, since in my case it isn't plugged into a TV but a DVD player (used as a monitor). I would use the digital out, since I have a quite decent Muse dac, but as with many media players (and I've tried quite a few) I get a slight crackle between tracks with digital, and in any case couldn't subjectively pick between digital and analogue out.

Regular price is $260-280.  Amazon had the same $175 deal last week, I jumped on it and it's my new main headphone for the next 5-6 months.

The DT880 is such an excellent headphone! Today it has been months since I listened to mine but I was playing counter-strike: global offensive and listening to rap music and rock. The DT880s keep delivering!
 
The treble still comes across as very detailed but may be etched to some.
 
The bass extends very well and deep(not as deep as my closed back Alpha Dogs).
 
The mids are very neutral, not lush or warm or recessed. Vocals come across as more realistic and less distant when listened to through the Alpha Dogs. The DT880 though wins in comfort and has a wider soundstage with more "air" but less depth to the soundstage than the Alpha Dog.
 
For price though if I had to recommend a headphone I would recommend the DT880 over the Alpha Dog because it wins in form factor, comfort, price, and it is more easily available. Also you get 90% of what the Alpha Dog has at less than $250 (if you shop around).
 
The only thing it is missing is the planar bass and holographic mid-range.

Good headphone for music instrument, but there will be times where the drum can be blurry.
