Some audio related beliefs of mine:
Electrostatic master race, electrostatic > planar magnetic > dynamic (high end Stax makes everything else sound veiled and fake).
Brain burn-in > burn-in.
Fostex TH-900 = Beats on steroids.
ZMF planars sound like improved, more natural Audezes.
I am a believer in Chord DACs, particularly the Hugo 2 and presumably the Hugo TT 2 and DAVE. They sound the most natural and transparent to me, I think Chord has the leading solution in DAC technology today.
At least 95% of headphone amps are poorly designed crap, do your research
Top 10 Favorite Headphones:
Stax SR-007A (though with the bass port mod I'd probably move this up to #2, but never did this mod)
Entertainment Surround System: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD -> Yamaha RX-V579 -> SVS SB1000 12" Sealed Subwoofer, Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 SE, Fluance XL7C, Fluance AVBP2 Headphone System: Chord Hugo 2 -> Kimber Kable Hero Interconnects -> Mjolnir Audio KGSSHV Carbon + Stax SR-009 Stax is where the headphone journey ends. You owe it to yourself to try an SR-007 and SR-009/SR-009S with a KGSSHV Carbon/Grounded Grid or better, a Chord Hugo 2 or Hugo TT 2 or DAVE, and excellent analog interconnects.
While my Stax SR-009 makes all other headphones sound low-fi in comparison, good speakers make the SR-009 and any other headphone sound even worse...
