I just snagged a pair of the Premium. Thanks for the link wolfetan44! I was going to get the 250 ohm Pro when it was over $150 cheaper than the 600 ohm version, but at $219 for the Premium it was an easy decision to go with those instead. Now I just have to wait for my Schiit Asgard 2, as it is backordered, but is supposed to ship the week of 02/14.

Yes, you certainly helped me a great deal, as I really wanted to get the Premium. I just couldn't justify the price delta over the 250 ohm version. I'm glad I checked in tonight, and thanks again!

Wolftan, I see that you've sold 2 880s, and I was wondering why. Assuming your avatar is a recent photo you appear to be a rather young looking midget, but I'd still like to know.

I sold my 250 ohm to get the 600 ohm version, and came out losing no money, so it was a win-win for me. Anyways, as to why, I find it to be too analytical for my tastes, preferring headphones like the Sennheiser HD650. However, I may attribute this charecteristic that I found with the DT880, to using a O2/ODAC, which I found rather cold and analytical. I would love to hear the DT880 with my WA7

I'm going with a Schiit Modi DAC and Schiit Asgard 2 amp. I hope to upgrade to the Schiit Bifrost DAC at some point in the not too distant future.

Yes, the 880 requires either a sympathetic amp, EQing or an amp with a treble tone control. With that 6.5khz peak lopped off, to my ears (I owned the 650 for years) the 880 can give you all the smoothness and neutrality of the 650 without the (relative) bloat and treble masking. Not trying to turn you off the 650, which is a fine phone in its own right, but if you do get the chance to re-test the 880 with a more suitable (not necessarily more expensive) amp grab it. (Not sure what a WA7 is).

You have a few options.
dacs : hifimediy usb sabre, odac, modi, E10

amps: objective2, schiit vali, E09k, matrix m-stage

combos: audio-gd nfb 12.1 or 15.32

E: You can go Magni... but I don't recommend it personally.
