Are we still talking DT880? If so I think it's important to differentiate between a treble peak and harsh/grainy treble, which the 880 certainly does not have.

Not sure if this is common or normal, but when I prepare to put the DT 880s on my head, the headband almost always makes a snapping sound as I rotate the cups a bit to fit over my head/ears. I've experienced this on the Pro and now on the 600 premiums. Is this a sign of a defect or something that will get worse over time?

Mine often do the same. I never thought of it as a defect, seems like it's just the adjustable parts in the headband/cans moving a little when they're stretched out.

I just got the Little Dot DAC I to upgrade over my Hifimediy Sabre DAC.  I have noticed a much larger improvement with this switch than SRH840->DT 880 and Fiio E11->Vali, which is interesting, seeing as everyone here seems to say that improving the DAC is less noticeable than improving headphones and amp (assuming roughly the same amount of money for each change).  Anyway, the Little Dot DAC produces more bass than the Sabre and has given the DT 880 the impact that the SRH840 had with heavier rock songs while retaining the soundstage.

Yes, it would.  The only thing I do not like about it is the size.  It is at least twice as big as I was expecting.  I doubt it will ever be a problem, but I was surprised by how big and heavy it is.  Then again, everything is bigger than the Hifimediy Sabre.

I often thought about getting their DAC II - that way you get the DAC, an SS amp option, plus having the MKIV on top completes the family.

Checking the specs on the Little Dot DAC II it only outputs 300 mW into 32Ω where the NFB-12 is 300 mW into 300Ω. I think the LD DAC II might just be on the edge of not enough power for the 880's Pro's let alone the 600's.
 
And if I am wrong I just know our resident EE Time Lord will jump on my butt.

I agree, the Audio GD Amps do sound nice with Beyers, as you all know I like my DT 880 the most out of my NFB 10ES2, I had the Va;i and while it was nice with the w1000x... the W1000x is still my travel headphone, as nothing I own  does what the DT 880 NFB combo does... on the fence about balancing/reCableing my W1000x or buying a W5000

Some rough calculations:
As a rule of thumb,
300 mW into 32 Ohms
works out to, approximately:
150 mW into 64 Ohms
75 mW into 125 Ohms
37.5 mW into 250 Ohms
19 mW into 500 Ohms
 
so getting kinda marginal at 250 and especially 600 Ohms,  so the nod goes to the NFB-12.
OTOH, anybody ever tried the LittleDot DAC II with 600 Ohm Beyers?

In total abandon of my my free IEM's, I just ordered some dt880's! I'm super excited and I hope they're as good as I think they will be. I plan on listening to mostly classical and some old school rock with em. I also ordered a fiio e10 dac/amp for them. Now audio is not my hobby, these phones are just a means to enjoy my real hobby. Music! That being said should I save up money to replace the e10 with something nicer? Or can I use that money for buying more music!
