Thanks for sharing!
Repair and service seem not to be a problem to me. Local folks here are great DIYers and I managed to have know a lot of them, some of them building cables and amps full-time. Will consider the DV

kewl .. yeah if you can get help if something does go south on a DV local ..it is a pretty compelling value.. mine would have been a door stop, if I didn't have a baseline of skills to fix it. I moved recently and not know many people around here and certainly not audio DIY fans .. only place i found that would even look at it wanted $200 just to asses the problem (I said no thanx)..

It is a nice sounding amp for a cheap price (as long as you get one without QC issues /resolve any issues)... quite nice with some NOS tubes.. huge thread on tube rolling for this amp in the full size amp section btw.. For awhile I'd kinda put the DT880's aside because of harsh the highs can be ... but with the DV and NOS tubes, that issue has been resolved to my satisfaction.

I've narrowed down my choices for my desktop rig to pair with my 880s (250Ohm) to SMSL M6, Little Dot MK2, and Xduoo TA-03. My savings is around the price of TA-03 (or DV336SE) which in turn is equal to that of M6's and LDMK2's combined, I'm having a hard time choosing. I'm undecided whether to get a SMSL M6 first and then the LD (my source is digital so that I would have a decent DAC with RCA out to my future 'desktop' gears), or LD MK2 first (because maybe I wont notice a problem with RCA to 3.5 cable), or save up and get a Xduoo TA-03 to combine the functions and save the space (which I have plenty of).
Right now I'm using computers and players with USB out as source to Fiio E17k as DAC and Fiio A5 as amp. I'm afraid if I went with LD first, without the M6, I wont get the full potential of it because none of my equipments have RCA out. And with M6+LDMK2 I will have a decent DAC with powerful SS amp, and an option for tube sound with an OTL tube amp, while with TA03 I'm forced to only have tube desktop setup.
And anyway, are cheap Chinese DACs ($30-50) any good? maybe I'll just hook one of it with DV336SE

Your mom did a great job with the photos! Very nice...and all black like you wanted.
Yup! They look nice but sound better!
Coming from 990s I dont think these are bright at all. And with less bass I feel like there's more air despite narrower soundstage. But the 3 meter non detatchable cable is killing them.
I'm thinking of modding em to use em with detatchable cable. 3.5mm seems very versatile but XLR looks really cool. Any suggestion?

the black pads feel somewhat coarser and less comfortable compared to the legendary grey ones on my 990s. But because mine is Premium (edition) version, the pads arent really that bad. FYI

I would not mod while still under warranty.

Definitely not as bright as 990s which is why I prefer 800s or Amirons. But that is just my personal preference.

I find the bass is there if the music has it. I do amp them. Any of the amps that I have in my list do the job. Other amps would work well also, I am sure. Mine are the 250 ohm premium. Your black ones are gorgeous!

People have said the same earlier in this thread. Some have ordered the grey ones but that would ruin the look of yours. Someone said that Beyer had denied that they are different.

Well I just compared the black and grey pads side by side and they are absolutely different.

Anyway, I just noticed my 990s came with papers such as instructions and warranty while my 880s only came with the hard carry case.
Their box materials are also different, with 880s' being shinier than matte paper found on 990s'. This material difference leads to colors being different also.
The description of Connector of 880s says 'Gold Vaporised' while the same description of 990s says 'Gold Plated'
These minor differences worry me a bit, but to my ears they sound too good to be fake.
And lastly, I have been a bit paranoid for my All Black model is nowhere to be found in Beyer's site.

So I come up with 3 conclusions
1. The newer boxes of Edition models are slightly different from Pro models, so people with Chrome and Black model should have similar boxes.
2. Beyers sold on eBay (and similar platforms) arent supplied with papers.
3. Mine is a very good sounding pair of fake Beyers.

What do you guys think? Again I purchase from http://www.ebay.com/itm/Beyerdynami...281800&hash=item4407343a5c:g:iLUAAOSw8FtZfV70

That eBay seller, Focus Camera, always seems to be selling Beyers at low prices--I got my DT 660 from that outfit for like $69 or something absurd. They sound wonderful on classical music, so if they're knockoffs they are really doing a good job of it.

My DT 880 600 ohm from Amazon (not a marketplace seller) didn't have any significant paperwork with it either, so I don't know what to think.

How do feel going back and forth b/w the 660 and the 880. Do you amp the 660? Would be interested in your experience with both them jewels:L3000::L3000::L3000:

My god these DT 880 600 ohms are really superb. I only wonder if the T1.2 are these but just better. The DT 880s sound nothing like my DT 1990s.
What's your take on DT880 (600 Ohm) vs DT1990 with analytical pads?
