The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread

I'm testing the Torpedo, received in a box with the built amp and 5 pairs of different matched tubes (ready to roll, wow). The sound is clear, a very neutral and warm signature.. could be a bargain but only if you own low impedence gears, definitively wrong with dt880/600ohms  Maybe will be excellent with the 32ohm version and luckily work very, very fine with my Ms1i Alessandro (!). Imho there will be a lack of power with the dt880 250ohm, 'cause most of the time I keep the volume at 15:00 with the 32omhs Grado.
So, i'm starting a new quest for a dedicated 600omh amplifier.. just waiting for get the money. But this time I would be sure about the "power output".

So cute

I picked up a pair of 250ohm DT880 this evening.

While I wait for them I'm looking for someone who's going tell me they will be worth it.

The DT880s are an ultra, ultra comfortable headphone with a very neutral sound signature!
You'll enjoy them!

Excellent, now I'm excited!

Neutral is good, comfort is good, we're off to a flying start, Chris.

Hopefully by the end of the week I'll have them, I haven't pondered terribly far into this thread however the general  DT880 sound signature I've been reading about is right in my direction.

Indeed, because I'm leaning towards desktop over portable recently I thought why not give them a try.

As a side note: I'll also have HD600 audition unit coming this week. Should be interesting which I decide on.

Don't be surprised if you want to keep them both H20 - quite a few of us have both.  In fact I've had both twice (sold and repurchased both cans).

so I asked this earlier, but I'll try again.  I've been reading up on what a big difference pads can make on the 880.  with the Jmoney pads being gone, is there a second goto pad that everyone likes?  or even diy?  someone also mentioned the he300 pads (which I have) work well, but I don't see how to connect them.  the attachment method is completely different.

They should just stretch over the cups of the dt880s. Did you separate the pads from the plastic ring? That would be key.

I did not remove the mounting ring.  I'm not a big pad modded, didn't realize it came off.  oops.
