I am hearing that an amp would benefit my purchase of the 250 Ohms Pro but I've heard that an audio interface has a built in amp sometimes. I am thinking about buying a audio interface because I will need it in the future and it seems more necessary. Also if I decide to purchase a decent mic I will need one. 
 
Any recommendation on what I should buy?

Dohohoho. Those european headphones get jealous of each other pretty easily.

I would pick up the DT770 Pro 250ohm. I just got a pair and think they are amazing. I'm also an audio engineer and one of my fellow co-workers turned me on to them. I think an amp would be good but not extremely necessary cause I run mine straight out of my Laptop without any problems.

  Hey guys.

Quick report after owning the DT880 for two weeks. Been using them with Odac/Schiit Valhalla and I can confirm that most of the talk about the DT880 being lean, overly bright, lacking bass and so on is seriously blown out of proportion.

I feel like that is the characteristic of the DT880 if they aren't being properly amped or fed a good source. I'm listening to Flying Lotus "Tiny Tortures" in FLAC and what I love most about the DT880s presentation is just how they combine the right amount of air and body to the sound which gives great instrument separation. I even like their presentation more-so than one of the HD800 setups I heard at the last headphone meet I attended. While there is no doubt the HD800 has a larger soundstage to say that it is more immersive would be a tough call when competing against the DT880. I felt that the HD800 was really picky about source material and had a tendency to sound dry while the DT880 has more bass or wetness. There is no doubt in my mind though that the HD800 is much more suited towards acoustic or classical music versus the DT880. The DT880 has better bass though IMO.

Oh yea, they may be sold in the next few hours :[ sorry guys this might be [well some of you might be happy xD] my last few days here. I'll be moving to the HE 4 thread soon as my HE 4 should be here Tommorow if not Tuesday!

Agreed 100%, the problem is very easy that Dt880/600 is priced under $300 while HD880 is priced at $1500. It is why some folks hate Dt880/600. The question: is HD800 5x better than Dt880/600? I don't know, someone please helps me answer this.

let me say NO, nothing is ever 5x as good as anything. For example, I just paid $450 for an HE 4, which is MAYBE at BEST 10% better than the DT 880, in fact scratch that all I know is the HE 4 is like the DT 880 +OrthoDynamic Sub Bass... and the HE 4 is as hard to drive as the HE 6 
 
meaning I'm putting my balanced amps to good use finally
 
that said, as you move up the chain I think oyu might at BEST get 25% better than the DT 880, and when I throw that percentage out there, think in terms of music. More than likely there will be 1/4 songs that really WOW you once you go with something as nice as the HD 800, and when I say WOW I mean INSTANTLY EVERYTHING IS BETTER,
 
Most of the time though with upgrades, you don't get full... "better sound" till after a few weeks when you start to notice all the extra little stuff
 
Back to the HE 4, it cost me twice as much as my DT 880, is it twice as good... NOPE >.>

I think the one thing that made me go WOW when I heard the HD800 was just how accurate the soundstage was. This guy from the meet fooled me with software to make me think that he was playing music out of speakers when it was really the headphones. I just couldn't justify the price tag to think that I would throw that kind of money down when the DT880s are almost there.

When I first heard the HD800 I almost hated it, I got a good deal on them from a friend who is a bass-head and figured I would try them with all of my equipment and like them better or sale them. After actually owning them and experimenting with different amps, DAC's and sources, I found the synergy I was looking for.  I put them on and get swept away in the music like nothing else. They are an amazing HP, 5 times better then the DT880, no, the best can I own, a definitive yes.

They should, the HE 4 is so stinkin hard to drive, balanced solid states are a nice inexpensive way to get the power they need ;3
 
I found a club that loves the NFB 10ES2! And it's glorious balanced amp section!
 
I got a pb2 in today as well, which has LME 49990s in it with dummy buffers, sound is a step up from my Pb1 so I'm pleased to say I'm one step away from having a fully balanced set up, getting my D2k Balanced this week, and me W1000x after it

I can hear very faint hushed whispers when everything is quiet, it appears to come from my two copper headphone stands...
