Everybody says the 600 ohm sounds better than the 250 ohm! I got the 250, I love it to death though :D

I'm quite interested in this headphone. Many love it and I hear lots of good things about it. I would tend to lean towards the 600 ohm version while choosing, mainly because, as wolfetan44 says, everybody says it sounds better than the 250 ohm! Can you hear a really noticeable difference with the same amp when comparing the two? I would think you would... My only concern is how hard it is to drive the 600 ohm. I would imagine the 250 is more convenient because it would work well with a broad variety of equipment feeding it. I'm using a Heed CanAmp. I think that would work well even with the 600 ohm version.

Same here. Given how good the 250 ohm is for the price (or even twice the price), I can only think the 600 ohm would be different rather than better.
I got mine for $190.

Although I've read similar opinions about the O2 on this forum, I'm not biased towards disregarding it as a choice, especially if I can get a chance to try one. Definitely a lot on this thread about the O2 (both sides) vs. the DT880s...

I've got the 600Ohm version and still enjoying them as much as I did the first day I got them in. Should be able to find a pair for $250...Amazon Warehouse Deals has some used ones for a good deal. They'll take em back if you're not happy with them either. (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B0024NK35S/ref=sr_1_3_olp?ie=UTF8&qid=1356641831&sr=8-3&keywords=dt880&condition=used)

thanks for your inputs, just bought a new DT 880 600 ohms on amazon sold by amazon and is new for $266, couldnt help myself but plunge into the world of beyer. Super duper excited.
I thought it was a good deal for a new can.

I have the 880600 with sliver dragon wire from moon audio on them. I love the detail (driving with ray samuel raptor amp) but..... wish there was more bottom "punch". anyone thing of cans with same detail but more bottom? thx

Keep the 880, and use an EQ.

Does anyone think the Little Dot I could make these justice? I'm looking for an amp around the $100 mark for these headphones, and since the Little Dot is hybrid it might me a nicer match for the DT880s, right? Or should I just go ahead and get the Schiit Magni? Thanks

Here's the link on amazon

150MW into 300 ohm

vs

260MW into 300ohm for the Schiit Magni
