I'd give my let nut for that CD900 or that diamond material model used for profesional monitoring..

I know someone selling a MDR-D77 for pretty cheap, drop me a PM if you like. It's got angled diamond evaporated drivers. This guy says that it rocks big time: http://www.sonicstudios.com/mdr-f1.htm but I was told that the CD900ST was miles better.

I kinda miss the cd3k speed sheer sped, magical mids and clear trebles when listening to my modded t50rp, but it's indeed got an effortless/natural sounding/non-fatiguing presentation....I need to improve my dampening, it's a bit wonky atm.

Looking forward to your comparison

Are you going to have a listen to the LCD-2 as well? (I know, it can be hard to find one to have a listen to...)

Same bass response regarding extension than with the Lavry... Starts to roll off at 50Hz for me. Just a very slighlty darker overall presentation (more bass level ?).

@Shamu144 - thanks for clarifying this for me. That's the one that goes for under $100 on ebay. Would be worth a try if it would give me better low end than the mkV. Do you find any significant roll off in the bass with that amp...or only when it goes below 60hz, like others are reporting? Thanks again.

BTW, congrats Lejaz for your nomination and apparition on the Beyerdynamic European page for the DT48E. That's fantastic to see the DT48E getting well deserved attention thanks to this thread.

Hopefully when Tyll returns that can be performed... I am hopeful about that.

I have question. Would be DT48e 25ohm good with Zoom H4? For recording outside... What i am not sure is specs for H4 headphone out. Headphones Output: 1/8" stereo phone jack (Output level: 50mW into 32Ω load)... Would be still good enough for DT48e?

Thanks shamu144. I will probably pick one up off of ebay if the new impedance adapter my friend made up for me doesn't help. My quote made it to the Beyer website? that's great. I really should be trying to keep these headphones a secret though....my secret weapon for mixing! I did a brief head to head with the k702 again the other night, and poor Willie Nelson and Frank Sinatra sounded like they were on  life support with the k702 compared to the dt48. Well, maybe a exaggeration...but they definitely sounded like they needed a good dose of vitamin B-12 and iron! I can't wait to hear the dt48 with less rolled off lows than I get with my mkV

No.. I hear the He6 are 1,600 right? I'm going to directly compoare them with my NAGRA's.. AS I feel they are the best headphone I ever owned. Interesting tale of the tape.. 1950's, unconventional, dynamic headphone, based on a 73 yr old design going up against what many feel is s superior technology to begin with, ortho..State of the art...Open.. Non sounding like a headphone, with a bigger budget for better sound.. David & Goliath anyone.. The only areas I think the NAGRA's will have a fighting chance is their midrange, transparency, balance, detail, clarity, & speed.. Everything else will most likely go to the HE6..Bass..SS is a no brainer for the HE6 I'm sure.. I will be honest & upfront.. I know I am a fanboy, but I do take this serious..If I feel the HE6 wipes the floor with the NAGRA I state so..

HiFi equipment is meant to sound pleasing, professional equipment is for getting work done. I will be suprised if HE6 beats the DT48 at its own game.

Well, some pro gear crosses over to audiophiles.  The Grado HP-1000s were designed for the studio, but have since been picked up here.  The same has happened to quite a few speakers and other gear.  The two fields are not necessarily exclusive.

I think it's a bit more complicated...take the NS10 monitors for instance, you can find them in every studio because they have the most boring mids EVER. Many musicians/engineers use them as a reference because if their music sounds good on it, it will sound amazing anywhere else. Genuine monitoring headphones are the same, they're here to make you hear any tiny defect..not enjoy music whatsoever. The DT770/600 or CD900ST come to mind...these are strictly work tools. But then there's indeed some "crossover" phones that try to give a neutral but not boring sound...T50RP comes to mind.

True.. But Erik brings up a good point.. The DT48 suprised me.. If you told me my favorite headphone (iowned) would be the first ever headphone created.. I would have told you, you'd be nuts.. I'm going in unbiased which is hard for both headphones. For the DT48, a headphone I love & want to better the best headphones out today.. Then you have the fact that I'll be listening to a 1,600 headphone, which on a subsonscious level, already put in my head the whole cost more is 'better' aspect.. So I have two things going through my mind. I will be unbiased as possible.. As I will give both headphones a fair shot... You also have the whole Studio Vs auidophile aspect. I'm mature & honest.. I think I can pull it off & be fair & accurate..
