The Beauty and the Beast... Woo WA2 vs WA22

hmmm, still undecided.

just put in the reflector 6n23p-ev tubes in my WA2, i forgot how fun and bassy the T1's can sound. sacrifices transparency but the sound is nice and warm and very punchy with the bass (the reflectors are known for being bassy and fun).

they're pretty good!

they do sacrifice some transparency and the highs while not fatiguing, have a tiny little spike on them. its not bad though.

they have really nice warm mids though and the bass is great! punchy, fast, strong, and deep. not as extended as 7308 tubes, but pretty close. im really liking them right now, makes the T1s really fun sounding, though like i said, at the expense of a bit of transparency and resolution, not bad though.

Okay. This will take all the strain of deciding off your shoulders.

I think not!

The spout would bump the rectifier.

There.

You're welcome.

Truthfully, I don't understand how ardilla managed to leave this out from the original article at the start of this thread. It's gotta be some of his best work.

Haha!

I love it.

You are twisted.

But I love it.

Haha, aren't we all in here ;D

This is the WA3 edition, but this pic is not mine. I'm not twisted enough to actually have water coming that close to my Woos....

In the WA22 I have primarily used the GZ33 or the GEC CV575 , TS5998 and some Sylvania 6SN7/VT231. I find the rectifier most important - I really like a warm one, the EML is too bright sounding for me. Except with the HD650 and maybe LCD-2/3 The WA2 I have some Mullards in front, stock rectifiers and various power tubes, mostly 5998. I should add, that I in no way regard myself as an experienced tube roller. I have so far spent more money on amps than on tubes....
