Sorry what is AK120II? You mean the Titan version? What makes you think there is a new mark for 120 and 240 coming soon?

check Astell Kern website. Specs are already out for the 2nd gen.

I'm kinda pissed, Astell Kern, got us all to drop a ton of money on the AK-240, only to come out a few months later, on a cheaper unit that can almost do the same exact things. This isn't kool.

Specs of 120.2 looks the same but doesn't mean it'd perform at 240 level.  I bet AK still let 240 remains as their flagship model.  120.2 apparently would tackle a different price range market to suffocate competitions.

That's how I exactly feel. Luckily, I can still return it. Probably won't buy the AK120II either though :frowning2:

On the official AK120II spec sheet, it says that, "The AK120 2nd Generation allows you to experience the highest sound quality by directly inheriting the sound design structure implemented in the AK240." To me that means the exact same thing.

Let's wait for comparison reviews to make the verdict.   By then there'll be a lot of sounds from us.

Wait now. It's approx $500 more for 240 from 120. You get bigger internal memory, twice the size, DSD and expensive materials.
The value is there. And I personally like the way the 240 looks better.

Having a choice would have been ideal but the 240 is worth the money comparably.

And the jury is out on whether it will sound as good. We don't know yet.

I can tell ya it works well..........

One suggestion....before adding any music to the card, have the 240 format it.

How do you have the 240 format a card?  I inserted a brand new 128gb and it just said 'preparing' for a brief moment and then seemed satisfied. Am I good to put music on it now?

I'm using the HD-800s balanced from the AK240 as a main rig to keep my power use down. It's pretty fantastic.
