The Astell & Kern AK120

So does the 901 play DSD files now? I remember hearing that mentioned on the thread. It's funny how much preference can play a roll in it all. :)

No. Don't think it is a substantiated rumor. Hope the next generation of top daps would all support this as I m really convinced the dff/dsf format has advantages for music that requires large dynamic range. But not really optimistic as I am not seeing the major players moving to this direction. Streaming and a monthly billing model seems to be way they are amalgamating to.....

Fujiya does seem to be selling the AK120 case in black for those who have aged their brown cases.

I guess $70 isn't too bad and I could use one myself.  Group buy?

I guess I am the only one who does not mind how the provided AK120 case is aging.

Well to be honest I'm not very impressed with it in that regards at all. It is simply to fragile and scratches, scuffs way too easily. It's as fragile as the player itself lol. I'd rather have something that is still nice and hardy/rugged where I'm not worried about scratching it up.

If the case was made out of the same leather material used for the Sflo2 cases there wouldn' be any issue and the case would last a lot longer.

At the same time it would be nice to not break the bank :).

I think our AK120s already broke all the banks

+1.  It's character, not age.  Good leather just does that.  I actually like the look of well used leather (scuffs and all).

Exactly. For me the image kc showed tells me a great deal about the quality. Really good leather does this, it ages, takes on patina. Think leather jackets that are high quality. Heck, Hipsters would pay a fortune for something that looks aged :D

Looking for a hard case for the AK120 and/or a small amp (Pico Slim or RSA Lightning) for travel.  Anyone here have Ultimate Ears IEMs that can check if the following case (not the small one in the 2nd pic) will at least hold the AK120 and possibly a small amp.  Other suggestions welcome.

For all leather I use Leatherique's Rejuvenator and Pristine Cleaner products. Same stuff vintage Rolls, Jag, Bentley and others use when conditioning/restoring leather. Have tried many products over the years and Leatherique wins hands down imho. Great for leather jackets and shoes that may be a bit dried out or needs some restoration.
