Hello @tgx78 , I've read a lot about the serratus on this forum, and I've watched the reviews on youtube. It's really intriguing me, and it's just too tempting to buy. But I have a concern regarding the shells, because using the mx500 for long listening sessions hurts my ears. I was wondering if it is possible to make a serratus with the "Apple EarPods" style shells without ruining the tuning? Shells of that kind are the most comfortable, and having the possibility on using it for serratus just sounds like a dream come true.
How does the serratus perform with the BTR7 on single ended 3.5mm? Also, apart from the btr7, what dongles do you recommend that work well with the serratus on 3.5mm SE? thanks.

I think im set on getting a ripples in a bell. I have a few things I need to sell first before I can, but once the funds are there, ripples will be mine!
- definitely warmer than Serratus
- more intimate stage. When this aspect is coupled with the improved dynamic range, I perceive more bass detail and texture with the Ripples than Serratus
- heavier noteweight
- Listening to the Swashers (https://tidal.com/track/109636782 1): fantastic holographic sound, denser than Serratus (less wide), detailed audio cues. Felt like I could sense each ebb and flow of the waves featured in the track

I received my custom Blue Bell Serratus today and wow... these jumped up the list without a doubt.
I asked Jim if he could make a bass-ier version of the Serratus as I intend to have it as my hip hop/edm bud of choice and he delivered. Added a +2db in the mid bass tuning. I have 2 other bass buds that I have to compare to see who gets the top spot but the added bass with the soundstage compared to the other 2 might be the kicker. Love the blue color. This is my first bell shelled bud and so far I like it. With the included thin foams, no movement. While I still prefer pk shells, the bell is a better fit than mx for me.
As the track title suggests, these are Tha Shiznit also played some Dre-Chronic, Joe Budden, Bone Thugs, 2Pac, John Digweed, Patrice Baumel, Them Crooked Vultures, Zeppelin, Deftones, and Tool to test out these blue wonders.
Thank you again @tgx78 a good complement to the Alpha.
The four individual packing peanuts in this pic crack me up! In a good way. More than anything I've read, this convinces me of TGXEAR's attention to detail. As someone who has received earbuds loose inside a big bubble envelope before, I definitely appreciate that little touch!
I'll try to stow the hype away, but I do believe these earbuds represent some of the best price/performance value for money to be had anywhere in the hobby, IF you can accept a couple of the compromises that they come with. While they sound fine with cheaper dongles and direct out of a laptop, you typically will need a more powerful DAP or amp to get them sounding their best, especially the higher-impedance ones like Serratus. And of course being buds, you get Zero isolation with them, so you need to be in a very quiet environment to hear them properly. Sure, you can take them with you out for a walk or on your commute, but you have to accept that you will hear all of the ambient noise around you, and your music will often take a back seat to street noise. And finally fit can be an issue, buds can be a bit finicky about being sat in just the right spot outside your ear canal to be able to hear them as intended.
While earbuds are their own category of transducer, I believe they compare/compete more with open-back headphones than IEMs, and I reckon you'd have to spend at least 3x to get something competitive. You won't get quite as 'large' a sound with buds because the drivers are so much smaller and therefore don't move as much air. But the soundstage is comparable, and I think the key with the TGXear ones is just how well tuned they are. I'm constantly amazed at just how much bass quantity they can deliver, with such impeccable clarity down low and in the upper mids/treble at the same time. Earbuds also have the advantage over headphones of not requiring a headband on your head that can become uncomfortable.
I believe @tgx78 has caught lightning in a bottle with his line of earbuds, and if you are ok with the form factor and other compromises, they are a no-brainer at the price.
