Tempotec V3 DAP - small, powerful, functional with Hiby OS

USB Current Limited disables charging when you connect V3 as a USB DAC to a phone
Thanks for the answer, so nothing I need for my problem. Now I think I'll use it these days and let it discharge all the way to 0 then charge it all the way to 100 for a couple of times to see 1 if the battery improves and 2 the battery percentage goes to 100%

Edit
Except for the battery I'm loving the dap by the way, the sound, the form factor, everything so good

Edit 2
I'm listening it right now, medium gain with wired IEM. The battery goes down 1% every like 5 minutes, I think it's not normal. Hoping it gets better with some charge / discharge cycles...

1% every 5 minutes it’s about 500 minutes or so, that gives somewhere around 8 hours of playback. Well, It’s okayish 🤔 Mine goes down with similar speed at low gain and 70% volume.

I thought it would be much better than that to be honest... I've just used a timer, from 21% to 20% in 4:50 minutes, screen off, only time to time on to see the percentage, mid gain no wifi no Bluetooth, illumination at 20%, volume 20.
It would be around 7 and half hours from 100 to 0, pretty bad IMO. Hope it gets better with the next battery cycles.

Mine is used, but guy who sold me, said, it runs only 3 hours. So maybe battery life really improves a bit after few cycles…But I wouldn’t count on that.
Btw, i always shut it dow after listening sessions for more energy saving.

Me too, like my other DAPs I'll use them only when I'm listening music, after that I always switch them off completely.

yep the battery doesn't last that long around 6h on mine depending volume of course and i'm sure it will be even less on V3 Blaze going to compare when i receive mine

as for battery going down fast don't know if it's software or hardware but when Stand by function is on the battery is drained even when completely turned off haven't check after v1.1 and on newer firmware but on 0.4 and 1.0 if this option is turned on drains the battery even after you shut down v3 to complete 0 only after day or two so better make sure Stand By is turned off

Thank you very much for the feedback, thought it was my problem but I guess it wasn't.

Edit.
Yesterday night I charge it till 100% after it died at 0%. This morning I power it on and it says it was at 88%, like the first time I charge it. I'm starting to think there's something wrong, it never goes beyond the 88% even if I charge it till 100%

Not sure if this helps, but more than improving battery life, cycling a few times between fully charged and empty helps calibrating the battery monitoring circuit—it “learns” the battery charge and discharge curves and where 100% and 0% actually are…

Wow it’s really doing strange things. Yesterday I charged it to 100%, and when I turned it on right after, it was indeed at 100%. Then I turned it off, and 20 minutes later when I turned it back on, it was at 94% (even though it had stayed off the whole time). This morning I turned it on again and found it at 88%. Basically, it can't hold from 100% to 88%—it does reach 100% when charging, but within an hour of being off, it drops to 88% and then stabilizes. From there, it starts discharging normally, only when in use. So it has this 100–88% range that’s basically empty. Really strange, never happened to me

This may indicate that the battery % feature is based on battery voltage, which is an approximate proxy of the actual battery charge level.
When a Li-Ion battery is fully charged, say ~4.2V, it relaxes right after you disconnect it from the charger. By how much depends on the battery and this may be your 88% level, and why it appears to plateau there.
I think you should not worry too much about it as long as you get the expected play time out of your battery…

Ah, thanks for the technical information! So I've decided: now that it's fully charged (88%), I'll use it and time how long it takes to reach 0%. If it lasts at least 6/7 hours, I've decided to keep it as it is because, aside from the battery issue, I'm really loving this DAP, and sending it back to China would be a hassle. On the other hand, if it lasts, say, 5 hours, I think I’ll have to return it—it would be too little in that case.

Just finished timing it— the charge lasted exactly 6 hours and 3 minutes, mid gain, volume at 20, balanced output. From what I understand, that’s in line with your results, even though mine starts at 88% instead of 100%. I’ve decided to keep it because I really love it. I’ll just charge it a bit more often, but I’m extremely happy with it, sound and user experience wise. Thanks to everyone for the help and your feedback!

my V3 Blaze arrived today and i'm Very Disappointed don't know where TempoTec got 825mW from but my V3 Blaze literally has the same output power as my V3 which should be 305mW according to V3 specs

So if anyone is considering getting V3 Blaze there's literally No Point
Other then that the software is identical and atleast i can't see any difference in sound

The thing is I'm already impressed with the power of my original V3. I was quite surprised about how well it drives my headphones...even the hungry DT990 pro.
