It might not be an upgrade.
Better stay with 668b, which scales well with your investment for other node of audio chain.
The bass of 668b can be better than 58X.

hi @fokta,

I can't reply your question in the showcase of Playmate.
Of course I have 668b and enjoy it, which gets me think again what does the price mean for headphones?
668b is enough for enjoying music regardless of genre.

Yeah your point is valid...

Just acquired Focal elear... well it was a good build, but not quite durable as I thought...
While you can put any amp to HD668b without worrying...

hahaha...

Just got a pair of HD668Bs. Kinda painful to wear but if you blindfolded me and told me to guess how expensive these were by sound alone, I'd guess they were around $500.

Ordered some velour pads off of Aliexpress. Should arrive in a few months.

I have a pair of modern retros with brainwavz XL how do they compare to this since I barely use them anymore and really don't need more headphones

also what exactly is hurting people wearing these they don't look that bad

edit:"Seriously, I can barely wear them for ten minutes before the earpads overheat my ears and the headband digs into my scalp. "

and people complaint about hurting their ears... seriously... is this real or just some snowflakes memeing?

I’m surprised the surplex HD668B getting attention even years after its release! I have some pairs of them, one HD668B and one of Sony’s CD900ST copy.
Good to know the earpads mod👍
