With the exception of a detachable cable and 3D-wing headband design, aren't these the same cans, spec-wise, as the Samson SR850s? Aesthetically, the 668B looks slightly better to me and more convenient with the 2 cable options, but what about the comfort of the headband compared to the Samson's? To owners of both, which one would you plump for overall?

I own both, the SR850 is much more comfortable and also looks better but for sound quality, i prefer 668B. Overall, i will choose the 668B

Any reason why you prefer the 668B's sound proid? I ask because apparently they're meant to sound almost the same, with the SR850 maybe sacrificing a little clarity for more bass. I'm considering these 2 cans right now so any other input would be welcome!

The SR850 is 32-Ohm, the HD-668B is 56-Ohm.
The cable on the HD-668B is removable, comes with a 3' and 10' cable.
The SR850 has a fixed cable, no swapping cables.

They sound very similar but 668B extend more in bass department, it has more sub bass, mid bass is about the same so 668B bass > SR850 bass, with me, it make big difference.

I bought some 681's. 10 minutes of listening now but I really honestly think they're miles ahead of my HD25-1 II's. I'm definitely a basshead and these do please. Can't wait to check them out with the Mogami cable when it gets here. Expect pics and a short comparison.

Really?

I found the HD25 superior to the HD681. I mean, the Superlux may be ultra bang-for-buck, but against the Sennheiser =|

personal preferences i guess. i just like the overall sound of the HD681 more. we'll see how it seems with the new cable. i agree with you in that the highs are not as refined as the HD25, but HD25's lack of soundstage and coloration (i can't put my finger on it, but there's something about the sound signature that took some getting used to for me)

by the way, does anyone else think the HD681's actually look pretty cool? one of my friends described them as "like wearing Air Jordans on [my] head".

Because of the red, i won't even consider them because of that. Trying to find more reviews on the 660s and yup Headfonia did say he liked how they had better soundstage compared to the HD-25, overall i'm sure the Senns are better but these are supposed to be right there which is amazing.
