My maid confirms it's a box with another wooden box inside. She stopped at that point. I asked for a phone pic but she can't use the phone for "those" kinds of things. It should be the correct toy.

My diary is loaded with meetings as usual... it'll have to wait

Just spent about 6 hours on the computer, first doing a complete reorganization of my music, followed by a fresh rockbox install on the sansa - now it's all transferring over to the player. Should be some extremely contented listening in... let's see... about 50 minutes.

Excellent.  With your headphones, the Sansa and the FiiO E11, and that high-end LOD cable, you're good to go.

Bill, you are the man!

Thanks for inspiring me to crack open my 125s!

PS. I have the old style 125s that came with the C-Cush. They also seem to have a different driver housing than the newer 80/125s. Does anyone know if Grado sells the new housings separately?

I bet those wood housings you made really warm those headphones up. How do they do at curbing the overly-crisp HF?

Can someone who's used the Cabillas method of driver liberation confirm the tool they used to make the cut? I don't have many tools...

As a rule, Grado doesn't sell parts.  If you have a problem with your headphones, you mail them in - and, for a small fee, they'll repair them for you.  If you're looking for plastic versions of the "outer" cups, I have a pair of 225s and a pair of Alessandro MS-1i cups available.

I've used a chisel before to slightly "tap" through the vertical surface of the cup to make the cut.  Then, with a pliers, I was able to carefully pull the housing off of the driver.  But ...

that is also the reason why I posted my "other" method of using a 1 1/4" socket and a rubber mallet.  5 taps and it was all done.   I initially tried to make my cut with a sharp utility knife and knew I was heading for trouble (the emergency room), so I had to move to less drastic means.  I have enough stitches in my body already - all from just pushing things a bit too far, unfortunately.

This thought was begging for a quote from fight club but which one to use...

"I just don't want to die without a few scars, I say. It's nothing anymore to have a beautiful stock body. You see those cars that are completely stock cherry, right out of a dealer's showroom in 1955, I always think, what a waste."

Then there is this one which applies more to the thread itself:

"You see a guy come to fight club for the first time, and his ass is a loaf of white bread. You see the same guy here 4 weeks later, and he's carved of wood

LoL.  Thanks, I needed that.

Meanwhile, I'm all pumped at the moment.  2 racks of baby back ribs are nearly done cooking and our baked beans are done.  We're heading to a friend's house shortly for a cookout, but we did the cooking.
wink.gif
Tyler Florence's recipes - lip smackin' sauce on the ribs with peach marmalade and baked beans with pancetta, bacon and chipotle peppers in adobo sauce.  Yummy!

Finally, I did a bit of outside work today.  I was "tuning" my A/C units some more.  I bought the gauges yesterday and checked the temps and pressures today.  No freon needed for the near future.  See, I can mod more than headphones.

I didn't buy it directly from Martin, as I got this in the FS section. But yes, Martin does the cans with a wooden box in it as the seller told me. Looks like pine or something.

I wouldn't bet she's wearing them. She's not into my audio hobbie or any other of my hobbies. She cried the first time she saw the wooden boxes the Dunlavy's came in. She just wants me back home I guess
