Bill kudos for getting a new thread rolling. Hopefully this one can pick up where the old one started. Seeing the original get locked is certainly disappointing, but it was probably merited on levels that many of us dont fully understand. Anyway the great thing about that thread in my mind was all the energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and camaraderie of it's contributors. I learned how to solder because of that thread; and I learned that there are a lot of really stand up people in this community despite the reasons for that threads demise. I got a chance to compare one of the Grado flgships to my modded 225's because of the spirit of generosity that existed in that thread, thanks again Stefan. I guess I'll have to get to work on the carbon fiber idea I have rolling around in my head.

I was under the impression that we are free to discuss whatever mods and where they were sourced as long as the vendors (and would be vendors) themselves aren't posting about their wares?
Am I wrong?

I don't see talking about cups or whatever you get from somebody is an issue. Like you said earlier, if an advertiser was actually selling cups and wasn't doing any business due to users of the community making cups, and said advertiser no longer wanted to sponsor headfi, I'm sure they would not like that.

As much as I hate to admit it to myself, the other thread needed to be closed. There are at least two, maybe more members in my mind who really need to be MOTs based on the number of products of theirs I have seen popping up. Hopefully the whole thread won't be deleted, I feel it would be possible to edit out offending posts, because there is so much great information in there.
 
At the very least, we get a clean slate to begin with on this thread and hopefully the innovation and creativity that was so prevalent in the other thread will continue across to here.
 
I have some wood that I still need to get cut, especially because I haven't seen anyone else with cups from. Now that I have a working pair of Grados again, I have more motivation.
 
Something else I have been thinking about, does anyone else here use flat pads? I only ask because I really like mine (more than bowls, comfies, or quarter modded comfies) and was thinking of making another pair that could be shipped around as a trial to others to see if they enjoy this pad style. You can still get TTVJ flats, but they are expensive and modded Senn pads are cheaper and will likely get you most of the way there. I have no intention of selling them, but maybe others can benefit from listening to them or using them as a template to make their own. If anyone has any thoughts on this, let me know.

......who cares? I'm one who detests rules that are rules simply for being rules. This seems to be the case here.
 
"well it's a law/rule therefore you should follow it." People under Nazi/facist rule often think the same thing. Obviously these two scenarios can't even be compared but I'm just saying. 
 
 
Those cups are beautiful by the way. I may order some new ones and replace bila's cocobolo's. ANyone have any spare dynamat by the way? never ended up getting any

hey Big Bill seeing you're the OP, I think it would be helpful if some useful links were added to the first page for easy reference. And it should be continually updated as long as theres a new technique or new mod found.

I don't think theres an issue commenting and stating who does beautiful work here and who could help that fella out. The main problem is people on the forum who are continually selling and is indicative of a off hand business aren't correctly labeled. And the importance of that label is to safeguard members from scammers.

While I may technically be the OP, my wish is for this thread to belong to the people as a whole. If you or anyone else would like to put something together, I'll certainly replace the first post and keep it updated with whatever you folks come up with.
