For now, yes, though I might just keep the OG and 2020.
I ended up ordering a new pair of Z1R...we'll see!

:)
Congrats! If nothing else, it will be an interesting experience.

Would someone be able to lead me to the proper Z1R thread to ask questions about this set since this is first impressions only?

Edit: found it. Please disregard

So I saw that thread was closed due to toxicity. Ouch. Is there still a thread then to ask questions about this set?

Yes, this one. Ask away.

Just wondering if anyone has experience with how this pairs up with the IFI hip dac or the FiiO M6 as a DAC as well. I noticed the 3.5mm cable that comes with this is really long. Or is the headset only meant to be used in the 4.4 balanced mode? Shorter cable for the 3.5 would me much more ideal. Thoughts? Or would the PHA-2A be a better fit?

Also, what is the cheapest this could be found? Seems like this set isn’t ideal for travel in the train but is perfect for home use. I compared it to the MDR-1AM2 and was impressed with how close the 1AM2 was in soundstage to the Z1R

@Gamerlingual If you don't mind me asking, why are you interested in the Z1R specifically?

I would personally consider them much too big for mobile use. I have travelled with them for use at hotel or holliday destination but now only use them at home and travel with the IER

According to Crinacle's new Headphone ranking, the Z1R are 50th on a 53 headphone list...

It is certainly one that divides the waters. To me it is one of the best I’ve tried

Sure, it's one man's opinion but to go from one of the best below 2K to bottom of the list... that's a long jump.

Haven’t heard the hip dac or M6 so I can’t comment on those, but I can say that the PHA-2A has more than enough power to drive the Z1R’s and they sound pretty great together. I preferred the Z1R with PHA-2A over the FiiO Q5s.

Well, remember that the list is preliminary. Also, to be honest, there are a lot of rankings I would personally question (hd650 hd600 have the same tone? They’re both more technical than the zmf auteur?). I wonder how many ranks are based on store demo, and what gear was used.

Time to sell mine, lol.

I've heard most the headphones at the top of his list and I respectfully disagree. Not with the list in general, just the position of the MDR.
