YesI assume you did the factory reset while WalkmanOne was installed ?

Thanks! Is it better to enable "Direct Source" when comparing the sound characteristics of the different regions, so these won't be affected by other settings?J3 is only available in the special release version for 1A/1Z

That is most likely the problem, you should always go back to stock fw before doing a factory reset

It should be installed with a NPAudio modified version of MrWalkman’s WalkmanOne custom fw (check the unit information in the gui) so anything you read in this thread will apply plus anything on MrWalkmans own web pagei just received my Nayparm wm1a , so 2 questions for all you connoisseurs

I think the first version of WalkmanOne came out in September 2021and the latest version in March 2022. Before that there were a number of other custom fw and before that there were sound tunings by many different users. WalkmanOne consists of 2 parts, the actual fw and then one of four sound signatures. Everything is configured from the settings.txt text file where all options can be configured and then there are obviously all the normal gui options[ edit : will go back and start rereading this thread from page 334 , see what people think of the latest FW ]

More than likely it was sometime in September 2021 for the WM1, because by late September it was already in testing for the NW-A55.I think the first version of WalkmanOne came out in September 2021and the latest version in March 2022. Edit: To further support this Midnight V2 was still being worked on as late as early September. (Before Announcement of Walkman ONE)

cause i see this quote/post later in September 2022 by @MrWalkman in his blog
An update to the Walkman One firmware will come at some point. Highlights of this update would be (at least) a new region, called J3, which in my opinion sounds very good (I'm using it for some time already), and a low latency USB DAC mode, enabling us to use our players for watching movies or other real time applications with delay between the video and audio so low that it becomes unnoticeable.
In the meanwhile you can try the J3 region on the WM1A/Z players. You can download a version of Walkman One with the J1, J2, and J3 regions here.
if i have a 2023 nayparm mod5 wm1a , which FW do i have ?

Yes this is the one with the J3 region. There has not been anything since then. It should be a NPAudio modded version of this that is installed on you modded player (I think it is only visual mods, nothing functional or sound related but I don’t have it since my mods are older)is this the latest WalkmanOne version available in September 2021 ?

2 questions to you cfw connoisseurs
1, i opened the settings.txt and i only see j in the regions , does this mean i have the earlier walkmanone fw installed (and not the latest with J2 and J3) ?
2, i am currently on mX3 region and wanna try the J , all i have to do is change mx3 to J in the settings txt , remove mass storage and i am good ?
do i need to also restart the wm1a or it's done after it reloads the database ?
