^^I thought the same. With that said, I continue to be stunned by how much battery life has improved with Plus v2 & different DAC mode turned on. For me, compared to FEv2 in Plus mode, battery life increased dramatically...not some merely marginal improvement for me.
Yes it is at least 30% better and sounds better as well, at least to me

My recomandations are, from what I think sounds good (with my gear):

1. WM1Z with MX3 region, Plus v2 mode, DAC init 0
2. WM1Z with MX3 region, Normal mode, DAC init 0
3. Neutral with TW region, Plus v2 mode, DAC init 1 (I didn't try other combinations for Neutral yet)
4. Warm with MX3 region, Plus v2 mode, DAC init 1 (same as above, didn't try other combinations for Warm)
5. Bright with MX3, Plus v2 mode, DAC init 1 (this one sounds nice, but I'm not too much over sparkling highs like that)

You did prefer init 1 a couple of days ago right? What made you change your mind?

i am in the exact same setup (plus mode) , pairing my wm1a with my amazing beast of transparency Hidition NT6 (with 1960s 2wire taking off the hotness from the highs) and even though i have downloaded every CFW that came afterwards , i am still very much satisfied with what i am hearing so staying put (plus i am kinda bored to do the whole setup thing , for now)
i think i'll wait and enjoy the FeV2 plus for now since i will be preoccupied with my n6ii R01 (incoming) anyway. i did download Mr walkman one firmware for future use.

Really enjoying playing around with this :). Mrwalkman deserves all the accolades he's received. A great big thank you from me!

What effect do the different regions have on the sound? For example, I was using bright under mx3 and switched to J. It seemed a little...brighter. :). Anyone have some clarity on these?

Thanks!

Here is Mindstorm's chart that shows impressions of the different regions and official Sony firmwares.

I thought it was PlusV2 that did those things
No. It’s the different DAC mode that disables the redundant processes. Plus v2 mode uses a different output for the 3.5mm.

Really? Different DAC saves on the battery? I was sure it was the other way around.
It disables some processes like noise cancelling that are not used hence the battery saving.

Yes there should come a version for the small players (A30, A40 and A50) possibly today and one for ZX300 after that
Hello
Still no indication on the release of the FW WalkmanOne for the ZX300?

I think I’ve settled on my sweet spot.

Neutral, MX3, Plus V2, alternate DAC.

I switched from TW region as I found it was making vocals sound processed at times
TW region adds some heft to the signature. Especially in the sub bass and mid bass region. It also smoothens out the harshness in the highs if any. Depending on your gear, it might be too much sometimes but for neutral it hits the right spot for me. Not recommended for warm as it will then result in a very thick sound that may not appeal to all.
