Hurray! $Album is available - thanks!

Well, I cannot make it work. Where does config.txt go to? I tried both /wampy/skins/casette and /wampy/casette/tape to no avail. This is the config.txt I (try to) use - so as album would go first row - otherwise this is the same as in the usage.md

This results in no text showing up in the cassette UI.
reel: other # default reel
artistx: 83.0 # track artist coordinates
artisty: 82.0
artistformat: $ARTIST # artist format string
titlex: 83.0 # track title coordinates
titley: 117.0
titleformat: $TITLE # track format string
albumx: 83 # album coordinates
albumy: 48
albumformat: $ALBUM # album format string

reelx: 134.0 # reel upper left coordinate
reely: 160.0
titlewidth: 600.0 # max title width in pixels, title will be cut after that value
durationformat: %1$02d:%2$02d # zero-padded minutes and zero-padded seconds separated by colon
textcolor: #000000 # text color, RGB

PS - the Winamp skin issue is solved, probably the skins used were the issue.

You need to create tape directory with unique name and put config.txt along with tape.pkm into it.

You can grab existing tape pkms from here - https://mega.nz/file/sgAhFDpb#EQ3csdJPubofMIIuCEb24694gFp5Ll0qAef7PViFDJk or extract userdata.tar.gz from windows installer (7-Zip works fine).

Comments in config file are supposed to be removed, your config looks like this:

Updated documentation with better example.

@unknown321123 Thanks, I'm trying, so far with sub-optimal results :) now it's working as I want it - see bolded line
reel: other
artistx: 121.0
artisty: 45.0
titlex: 121.0
titley: 81.0
titleformat: $TITLE from $ALBUM
albumx: -1.0
albumy: -1.0
reelx: 134.0
reely: 160.0
titlewidth: 600.0
textcolor: #000000

Another unexpected bug (?) - start playing a file, change to wampy (no matter which UI), change back to normal UI, select another song with non-ASCII characters (or even with just an apostrophe (')) in the $title or $artist, switch back to wampy and it still shows the previous song. Do it again, but select an ASCII song - in most cases wampy will show the new song.

Cannot reproduce, can you record a video? You are on walkman one, correct?

Yes, on WM1

Both on A30 and A50, consistently reproducible here. As long as it's strictly ASCII, looks OK. Once non-ASCII comes into the picture, things fall apart. I'll try to make a video

Restarted from scratch, made a clear new install - touch wood, the problem went away, though it feels less snappy changing from Winamp to Cassette and/or back than in the last 1.5.x version.

Unrelated question - can you make a screenshot on the A3x/5x of the wampy screens? I don't seem to manage with the usual method, it looks that the player sees the HOLD button ON, so no screenshot.

The only potential slowdown was added back in v1.5.0 - removal of hardcoded font glyph ranges. Database is queried for all characters on each skin change; that takes some time depending on your library size.

About screenshots - I am taking them over adb using `screenshot` command. Key combo is too slow, don't even remember last time I used it.

I was planning to report on font issues but I guess this means I have to wait for a bit more til the glyph get rendered?

also another report: Songs information can't be fetched if played from SensMe playlist, but still can detect playing/stopped status.

There is nothing to wait for, there is no glyph for that character in font (Noto Sans KR which is already on the device).

SensMe is not supported for a variety of reasons, not a priority target for now.

Yeah that's Japanese but I guess that font is not implemented (only korean side, which is weird, I thought they would have CJK).

Scrobbler v1.0.6

Added builds for:

  • A50Z
  • ZX300
  • WM1A
  • WM1Z
  • DMP-Z1

https://github.com/unknown321/scrobbler/releases

Also, can't install scrobbler alongside wampy for my zx300 walkmanone (constant badboot, even after uninstall either/both, have to flash back to stock to fix)

Any plan to implement that into wampy?

Edit: another weird winamp skin cause buggy. case_normal not only have transparent, but also enabling cause button misalignment.

Can't press the Eject button, have to change skin by ini edit.

Not useless yet. The streaming algorithms and even the machine learning used by Roon are inferior. At least to me. But most everybody didn’t use SensMe when it was the current offer.

The streaming algorithms presuppose a streaming contract. So the AI would need to make its way over to the local files.

But I guess it’s coming, much as I don’t like it.
SensMe is the best thing Sony has in their firmware. I have yet to find anything that can match it - bliss is the closest I've used but is still miles behind. I really wish SensMe would get ported out so I could use it on my home systems (laptop/music streamer)

Did some further testing - the issue mentioned with non-ASCII characters seems to be limited to when the %Artist has them - in my specific case Aki Takase (高瀬 アキ)Now, I don't know if it's due to the JP characters OR to the fact that one kanji is not in the Noto Sans KR fontset. When choosing a different song, wampy is back to normal again. Wild idea - could this fontset be replaced or does it still provide the widest char support? Or is it hardwired to the player?

On the sunny side of things, the A30 now boots normally even if Cassette is wampy's interface in the .ini file

I have absolutely no interest in SenseMe or the like. When I play music I select an album and then listen to it end to end and then select another album and so on

So first you install wampy for walkman one, it works. Then you install scrobbler for walkman one and you cannot boot, getting stuck on wave animation and eventually rebooting, correct? This is unusual and indicates a default player crash, any files in wampy/logs directory?

Any plan to implement that into wampy?
No, unless there is some serious system bug preventing scrobbler from running.

Edit: another weird winamp skin cause buggy. case_normal not only have transparent, but also enabling cause button misalignment.
CBUTTONS.BMP is too small, so cropping buttons into subtextures fail, so buttons have 0px width (or are they?). I'll think about it. https://github.com/unknown321/wampy/issues/28

in my specific case Aki Takase (高瀬 アキ)Now, I don't know if
Reboot, reproduce the bug and make a debug log please (misc->debug->create log file). You can attach it to your message in zip archive. I've been switching between songs on different firmwares with all kinds of characters in their titles, albums and artists - not reproducible on my side. It is very unlikely that fonts are related to this problem; I expect more details from debug log.

EDIT: Fixed in v 1.6.3.3, https://github.com/unknown321/wampy/releases/. Accidentally reproduced by going into Folder, SD card, selecting a song and then switching songs until directory change. What actually happened: wampy uses tracklist (the one on the left side of "currently playing" screen) as the main source for current track data. There was a "song changed" event, but track list took to long to update, so there is no data. If there is no data, there is no playlist update in wampy. This situation is handled now.

Next time you encounter such a bug, just record a video to save time, I don't care if you have crooked fingers or fingerprints on the display; you can remove audio from video and send it via pm. Debug log could've helped, but it is takes quite some time to figure out what menu items you were pressing from it.

could this fontset be replaced
Yea, with user-provided font. Not implemented yet. EDIT: Added in v1.6.4, https://github.com/unknown321/wampy/releases/.

Great.
