Received the standard cable today, and using it with my Shure SE846s, WOW! what a difference! I was getting a little nervous that the sound of the zx-300 just wasn't measuring up to my previous ZX2. I wasn't finding as warm, as dynamic, and as wide a soundstage as the ZX2 through the SE port. But through the balanced output, AMAZING! Thanks for steering me in the right direction Psikey.

Sony was saying that battery time with FLAC will be 24 hours. My ZX300 is playing since yesterday 21.00pm. So for now, after 12 hours straight, there is only one bar left on battery level.
I think that it will not reach the 24 hours.

Maybe the battery improves after several charging/discharging cycles.

Some settings may also have impact on battery life : EQ, DSEE HX,...

I will try next run with FLAC, Direct Sound et volume 75.

I have Bluetooth and NFC also turned off on mine. I also tend to turn mine fully off when not in use.

Do you turn ZX300 off between playing or is that 12hrs none stop? I'm also only at a volume of 55/120 balanced with my SE846's. No other setting (EQ etc)

I will do a test soon.

It's a non stop playing test (EQ and DSEE HX turned on, FLAC files only).
Playtime is just 14 hours right now.

To be honest at 14hrs plus I'd be OK. Much better than 6-7 I got out of Mojo (or under 9 with Fiio X5III).

I bet volume plays a big part. Would expect the figure of 29hrs to be based on 50% volume with all DSP off.

You didn't say if you had BT/NFC turned off ?

Lets just say, without sony's test procedures and settings, you will never get the same results, just be lucky if you get a differences of 10-20 %, look at it this way, Sony's DAP offers the best battery life on the market.

Some Cowon DAPs have been known to have performed really well re: battery.
I am worried because these numbers are based on listening on SE. I shudder to think if i will get 8 hrs from DSD balanced listening?
