Agree, I started with a WM1Z and got the ZX300 for travel. It was very good and better than my pries DAPS, OPUS #1 Metal, OPUS #2 and FiiO X5II. But I missed the sound of the Sony. So I ended up giving the ZX300 to the wife and picked up the WM1A. Which now with MrWalkman's Modded Firmware and switching it to a WM1Z. I'm satisfied.

So if you want the best go for the WM1. But if money is an issue the ZX300 FtW.

Right now - She Rides WM1A is more a realistic versus the ZX300, with the former getting more of the details right.

There's nothing wrong with the ZX300 by any means, WM1A/Z simply offers more at the trade off for physical size and weight. Of all the smaller DAP's ZX300 remains to be the best IMO.

I think it would be best for you to experiment and decide for yourself

I don't have the ZX300, so I can't really tell. On the WM1A I use the J region.
