ok - did some additional reading. . .zx2 is not true balanced out. i would have to either use an external amp or get one of the new sony flagship dacs to get true balanced out.

fake...only one update for Japanese models and it's still in the 4s. Never close to 5

There's never been an update, so basically it's what it came with. I thought it was 4.2 or so.

Going trrs gives you most of the improvements usually associated with balanced. The thing you don't get is the double voltage swing as there is no inverted signal.

I just went from SE to TRRS with my ZX2 and the improvement was greater than I expected.

Yes it is 4.2.2

Just 0.1 updates below the one I need to be able to save downloads from Google play to the SD card. Instead it is limited to the internal storage which is at a mere 2gigs. Such a shame.

I have to agree with this. I was very skeptical however have to say it is better going TRRS.

I'm one of the ones that noticed no difference and was pretty disappointed. Ah well, the ZX2 sounds fabulous just the way it is.
