T1 offer more clarity :)

I'll give you the benefit of the (pretty substantial) doubt beacuse i haven't heard them. :)

oqvist, you have all the headphones I want :p. Interesting that T1 has even more clarity than SA5000, I am torn between the two atm, looking for better mids and highs and soundstage complexity than pro 900, do SA5000 or T1 beat pro 900 for these?

Well between SA5K and Pro900 the former certainly has wider soundstage, depth is not so obvious as they both are pretty good in this but if memory serves i was pretty impressed how good tthe Pro900 image-out, so maybe they have abit of an edge. Tonality is more accurate with a Kess modded Pro900, more neutral also, but the SA5k isn't prone to sibliance IME and is much more airy. Obviously T1 will beat both in sounstage and probably tonal accuracy.

I think the SA5000 could hold their own fairly well with the headphones you mentioned. Price is not always the deciding factor.. I like the DT48/Sextetts better then headphones costing more..

The one that is more expensive is better...

That includes T1, HD800, D7000, Qualia, R10, and everything else with more $$$

I'm super into detail & instruments sounding natural. I also believe there is a different phone for different things obviously....... Sonyxb700's for just all out bass booming fun factor, akg k702's for beatiful soundstage and some accuracy. grados for bright detail & closeness.
Beyer dt 990/880's 600 ohm for better bass booming & detail than sony's. I have hje900's for iems. I'm wondering if i should just go to the
top' stax.... or Would i be happy with sa5000...

Question is will sa5000 blow away akg k702 in detail naturalism with say solo cello pieces as an example.

Are akg 702's just good at soundstage? Stax have better soundstage ? Would Grado sr325is have as much detail as stax entry level system(2050)

I just bought a Cavalli Soha II amp + recabled sony SA5000 + Smeggy Thunderpants

Anybody think they will all complement each others

Im a Dj and produce electronic music, techno, electro tech , electro breaks??

the only thing that im afraid will be soso with Sa5000 and thunderpants is soundstage and pin point imaging compared to lcd2 or T1. I wish somebody could tell me instrument positioning is very good with SA5000 and thunderpants

An SA-5000 thread is alive??

Positioning and imaging is pretty decent with the SA-5000, but I can't say soundstage depth is, vocals are very very upfront, for example.
The sa1000 has better imaging and because it's a lighter sound throughout to spectrum, cranking the volume higher is more blissful airy and high headroom the louder is plays. The sa5000 doesn't do this and sounds hindered, and cranking it louder just hurts the ears because less sound excapes. This could be a result of the leather pads.

If anyone has a mint pair of these in the box I want them
Finding these mint condition will be very tough. The ear cups are actual leather, and last very well. The cup backing, otoh, is pleather, and is prone to peeling, exposing the foam underneath. Mine have sections of pleather peeled off. Other than that, mine have original pads, cabling, and are fully functional. Heck, I even still have the boxing, and the stand. I would be hard pressed to sell them tho. :frowning2:
