SONY IER-Z1R

Those AZLA look interesting but I always suspected it would tame a lot the air frequencies because of how they're made. There's too much foam surface after the stem ends.

I just found this Foamax comparison graph, even though its for N5005 but you can expect a somewhat similar effect on Z1R (pretty much aligned to what I hear - tame the treble a bit and clean up the low end)

Yeah, if the same happens on z1r as n5005 the foammax change the response quite a lot.

I've got a problem. I haven't used the stock cables in forever, and now the ear hooks started disintegrating whilst kept in the box and are now all sticky or something...? Is there something I can do about this? :worried:

From what I can gather it's not that uncommon and a replacement cable is the only real solution.

Common problem. Several have simply cut the soft rubber ear guide off the cable

Hmm...well, cutting it off doesn't like too bad of an idea, after all, it is a double sleeve. And it's definitely a nice way to save a bit of money on a cable i rarely use!

For cutting it off, what, do i just grab a random kitchen knife or something small and sharp and just go at it?

For a while, until the electrical tape also starts going bio-degradable
Okay, if you expose it to high temperatures, yes, it might, but you have similar tapes with a textile outer part; use something like that instead.
I use electrical tape, and it's fine for years at room temperature.
But if you are not safe to do that, better don't...I have been using it for at least 30 years for anything when I need it.
Anyway...if that tape starts to peal...you can tape another one and another one..for as long as you wish...but I have experience with it.
Easy for me to say
In that case...Aliexpress is your best bet :)

Good luck!

Cheers.

Mine just detached from alone at the base of the male mmcx stem, so i ripped it off. Unto clear the stickiness, I just claimed them with isopropyl alcohol.

1. Whipe it with alcohol swabs until no longer sticky.
2. Dry out with clean cloth.
3. Always store in a case with silica gel.

It happened to my IER-M7 cable and the solution I found was to clean it thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol and to use a silica gel packet inside the case I use to store them.
Following those steps they're not sticky anymore!
