All tips will change the sound. The only tips the keep the stock sound are the stock tips. That said, I like how these sound, though I still prefer the EP-EX11. I find Z1R most comfortable with bullet shape tips like the EP, and I prefer them with narrow bore tips for maximum bass impact. Thanks for your recommendation. Do these tips change the stock sound signature of IER-Z1R anyhow compared to the SONY stock silicone tips anyhow?

This doesn't exist. The wax protector will change the sound 100% of the time. It usually tames 6kHz onwards which is a good thing for the Z1R btw.built-in ear wax protector that ideally do not change the stock sound signature

I have found new favorite tips for Z1R. It's the new Azla Foamax tips. Super comfortable, seal well, has earwax protection, better separation and a tad 'cleaner' bass and treble than stock silicone tips. Only downside I can think of is it tends to round off the edginess on notes that it makes the Z1R lost its aggressiveness somewhat - it sounds better to me but I could imagine some wouldn't like this characteristics.

Do they have a rigid or a flexible stem? It seems to be the latter according to pictures.I have found new favorite tips for Z1R. It's the new Azla Foamax tips. Imaging - "Perfect." Z1R has perfect sound image performance on the all the way. It is very spacious but moderate, and exceptional.
Timbre - "Clear Piano sound - like." It gives very unique timbre. Due to the slightly holographic sound character, it reminds me a single piano placed in the middle of a compact music hall. It is quite hard to describe z1r's timbre, but it is like cling-clanging sound of clear glass-made bell. Must listen to.
Resolution - "Good but..." Considering price gap between z1r and n5005 of AKG, which is 149$ with promo coupon, Z1R's resolution was somewhat disappointing. But it is still resolving iem! I can say that this iem is not for tech value, but for other exceptional factors. If you are finding resolving iem among this price range, just buy used u12t of 64Audio.
Tonality - "Perfect." Nothing to say. Just perfect. Sub-bass amount is thrilling to deliver me resolving reverb of kick drum...
Build - "Great but..." Pattern on the face plate is so luxurious, and full zirconium housing gives more solidity on the look. Japan's build quality is certified. However, its thickness from face plate to nozzle was quite too much. edge of metal housing kept pressing my ears, and it caused bad pain after 30mins of use.

You perfectly describe them very well, that full kick drum with deep reverb, as I often to call it as the decay and trails of the kick drum attack, impactful with perfect decay and "reverb" is just a nice term i would like to use.
Great resolution but not the class leading, very unbiased comment.
Tried the EP11 tips and have to agree with the view that they are probably the best tips that I've tried for rhe z1r
I was using Final tips but find the medium EP11 tips just tighten up the sound a little and most of all provide an even better fit.

DMP was sold out a long time ago, maybe a year? I wouldn't read into that as new stuff coming out.Looks like the IER product line are no longer listed on Sony's website (U.S.) New products on the way?

Nice.I finally got around to polishing my Z1Rs after more than two years of accumulating microscratches and dirt. Was such a quick and easy process - well worth the simple effort to get your Z1Rs looking like new.
Thanks for reminding me, I just ordered one. I had bought mine second-hand, and although they were in decent condition and I've looked after them well, those little scratches always made them feel used and abused

Hey guys, is the Sony IER-Z1R really discontinued? As mentioned by somebody else in the comment above. The Z1R is not appearing on the official SONY USA website...
